Job description

As a Data Scientist at Micron, you will play a vital role in using data to solve complex business challenges and provide actionable insights for the business units and sales departments. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing AI, GenAI, and advanced analytical solutions that enhance efficiency, drive revenue growth, and optimize processes. Responsibilities:

  • Partner with product owners and business groups across business units and sales. Understand their needs clearly. Turn business problems into scalable, data-driven DS, ML, AI, and GenAI solutions. Implement these solutions in Python and cloud environments.

  • Design, develop, and implement predictive and forecasting models, machine learning models, statistical analysis, and data mining techniques to address business challenges.

  • Design, develop, and deploy optimization and simulation models (e.g., mathematical programming, stochastic simulation, scenario analysis, and what-if modeling) to evaluate trade-offs, optimize business decisions, and improve operational and financial outcomes across complex, multi-constraint problem spaces.

  • Analyze large and complex datasets, identifying trends, patterns, and anomalies to extract valuable and actionable insights.

  • Build and deploy data visualization dashboards and reports to effectively communicate insights to business leaders across different levels.

  • Research and explore new data science techniques, including generative AI and large language models, to enhance business processes and decision-making.

  • Contribute to data governance and infrastructure: Help maintain and improve our data infrastructure, ensuring data quality and integrity.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience as a Data Scientist, with expertise in using advanced analytics, machine learning, and statistical modeling to solve complex business problems and drive data-informed decisions.

  • Strong foundation in machine learning, data mining, and predictive analytics, including both supervised and unsupervised learning techniques, with a proven ability to translate insights into actionable outcomes.

  • Advanced Python programming skills with hands-on experience using key data science libraries and frameworks such as Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and PyTorch.

  • Extensive experience working with large-scale datasets and cloud-based data platforms, including Snowflake, Google Cloud, AWS, and Azure, as well as data extraction and transformation using SQL and other query languages.

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills, with expertise in data visualization, data quality management, and effectively conveying complex findings to both technical and non-technical partners.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or demonstrated equivalent experience.

  • Proven ability in working alongside generative AI and large language models (LLMs) within business contexts to build AI solutions.

  • Strong experience applying optimization and simulation techniques, including linear/nonlinear programming, discrete-event or Monte Carlo simulation, and scenario modeling.
