Job description
A healthcare insurance provider is looking for a Tableau Platform Administrator to join their team remotely aligned to EST or CST. The Tableau Platform Administrator/Developer is responsible for the administration, stability, and modernization of a large-scale Tableau Server environment supporting an enterprise user base of over 80,000 users. This role owns end-to-end management of multiple Tableau Server instances, including infrastructure design, cloud migration, performance optimization, monitoring, and incident response. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Tableau Server administration and strong cloud engineering experience, particularly with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), to support ongoing migrations, cost optimization, backup strategies, and infrastructure modernization. Responsibilities include proactively monitoring high-traffic environments using tools such as AppDynamics and native Tableau monitoring, rapidly diagnosing and resolving unexpected outages, planning capacity and infrastructure expansion based on usage growth, and ensuring platform security through vendor engagement and remediation of vulnerabilities. The role partners closely with Cloud Engineering, Security, Enterprise IT, and business application teams to design and build new infrastructure, lead modernization initiatives including SaaS evaluations, and establish strong vendor relationships, product roadmaps, and deployment plans. Sitting at the center of the enterprise Tableau ecosystem, this position requires strong stakeholder communication skills to collaborate with business owners, provide technical and product expertise, support end-user troubleshooting, develop usage and performance metrics, and advise users on best practices to optimize Tableau solutions across the organization.
Requirements
7+ years of experience administering and managing large-scale Tableau Server environments, including multi-instance, high-availability platforms
Strong cloud engineering expertise in GCP, including compute, storage, networking, security, backups, and cost optimization
Strong foundational knowledge in cloud concepts such as Subnets, VPC, IP Configuration, Load balancer setup, GCS buckets, and cloud cost optimization
Hands-on experience with monitoring and performance tools (e.g., AppDynamics and Tableau native monitoring) in high-traffic environments
Excellent stakeholder communication skills, with experience partnering across Enterprise IT, Security, Cloud Engineering, and business application teams while supporting a large end-user base
