Job description
This Firmware Engineer will design, develop, test, and maintain embedded firmware for connected hardware products. Responsibilities include developing new firmware features in C/C++, creating and supporting device drivers, integrating communication protocols, debugging hardware and software interactions, and collaborating closely with cross-functional hardware, software, and product teams. The engineer will participate in code reviews, contribute to system architecture discussions, support unit and integration testing efforts, and help deliver reliable, high-quality firmware throughout the product development lifecycle in a fast-paced Agile environment.
Requirements
Must Have:
- 3+ years of experience as a Firmware Engineer
- Experience developing firmware within a Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) environment
- Hands-on experience with FreeRTOS or a similar RTOS
- Experience writing, modifying, and debugging hardware drivers
- Experience with embedded communication protocols including UART, I2C, SPI, SDIO, BLE, and WiFi
- Experience working with microcontrollers (MCUs)
- Familiarity with firmware development life cycle and debugging tools
- Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and unit testing (training available)
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Plusses:
- Experience with STMicroelectronics (STM32) microcontrollers
- Experience with Espressif (ESP32) microcontrollers
- IoT or connected-device experience
- Experience with Bluetooth and/or Wi-Fi integration
- Hardware bring-up and board-level debugging experience
- Consumer electronics, robotics, or smart device experience Agile/Scrum development experience
Benefits & conditions
$35/hr to $40/hr
