Job description
We have an immediate opening for a full-time System Engineer to support the commissioning, startup, and optimization of advanced CNC machine tools within a leading industrial manufacturing environment. The System Engineer is responsible for taking CNC machine tools from initial power-up through full production readiness. This role serves as the technical lead during commissioning by troubleshooting complex electrical, controls, servo, and motion systems while ensuring equipment meets performance, quality, and customer acceptance requirements. The ideal candidate thrives in hands-on manufacturing environments, enjoys solving complex technical challenges, and is comfortable traveling extensively to support customer installations. Employment Type: Full-Time, * Lead complete CNC machine commissioning from initial power-up through customer production acceptance.
- Load software, configure machine parameters, and initialize CNC control systems.
- Troubleshoot and optimize multi-axis motion control systems, including open-loop and closed-loop applications.
- Perform servo tuning, axis calibration, and machine geometry compensation to achieve optimal machine performance.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical, controls, hydraulic, and pneumatic system issues.
- Read, interpret, and verify electrical and fluid power schematics while identifying required corrections.
- Validate machine performance, safety functions, and operational readiness prior to customer handover.
- Provide field service, startup assistance, and warranty support following machine installation.
- Train customers and mentor junior systems engineers during commissioning activities.
- Document commissioning activities, troubleshooting efforts, and system performance improvements.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and customer teams to resolve technical issues and support successful project execution.

Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in CNC machine commissioning, controls engineering, automation, or a related manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage commissioning activities from troubleshooting through final resolution.
- Strong PLC programming and ladder logic troubleshooting experience.
- Working knowledge of AC/DC electrical systems.
- Ability to interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
- Proficient in the use of multimeters and electrical diagnostic equipment.
- Experience with CNC and PLC platforms such as Siemens, Beckhoff, Fanuc, or similar control systems.
- Strong understanding of servo systems, motion control, and machine automation.
- Excellent troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
- Ability to communicate technical information effectively with customers, operators, and engineering teams.
- Ability to manage multiple commissioning priorities in fast-paced manufacturing environments.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 75%.
- Commitment to safe work practices, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and proper PPE usage.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CNC machine geometry compensation and precision machine alignment.
- Advanced servo drive tuning and multi-axis motion optimization experience.
- CNC parameter optimization and performance calibration.
- Experience with robotic automation platforms such as ABB or KUKA.
- Knowledge of vision inspection systems and automated quality technologies.
- Familiarity with IIoT, Industry 4.0, and smart manufacturing technologies.
- Understanding of machine safety systems, SIL standards, and risk assessment methodologies.
