Position Summary: The position (K0246812) IT Project Manager II would be expected to perform the duties of a Project Manager I with little to no oversight for projects of increased scope, cost, or complexity, including:
Manage assigned IT projects through the full project lifecycle.
- Develop and maintain project charters, work plans, schedules, budgets, resource plans, and project documentation.
- Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, assumptions, constraints, and success criteria.
- Coordinate project activities among technical teams, business units, vendors, and external stakeholders.
- Facilitate project meetings and ensure completion of project deliverables.
- Monitor project performance and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Support organizational project management standards and best practices.
The Project Manager II would be expected to perform the duties of a Project Manager I with little to no oversight for projects of increased scope, cost, or complexity, including:
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with project sponsors, customers, business partners, technical staff, and vendors.
- Develop and execute communication plans appropriate to project size and complexity.
- Prepare project status reports, dashboards, presentations, and executive briefings.
- Facilitate discussions to identify stakeholder requirements, concerns, and expectations.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and resolve communication issues that may affect project success.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

- Business Analysis and Requirements Support
- PMO Governance, Compliance, and Reporting
- Vendor and Contract Coordination
Requirements
As a Project Manager II, you will lead cross-functional project teams in the development, planning, and execution of IT projects of moderate to high complexity using waterfall and hybrid methodologies to meet schedule, budget, regulatory, and security requirements. You will work closely with agency leadership, technical teams, vendors, and stakeholders-leveraging Monday.com, ServiceNow, and Microsoft Project-for project scheduling, reporting, and portfolio management. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years' direct experience in IT project management, including experience in continuous improvement of project management topics. Candidates must be certified in the Kansas Project Management Methodology or obtain certification within twelve months of employment., Education: HS Diploma Required. Two years direct experience in Business, Information Systems, or a related field, plus three years of direct experience leading and managing multiple IT Projects utilizing best practice project management methodologies, or five years of similar experience without a qualifying degree.
Licensing & Certification: Valid Driver's License - Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid driver's license when operating a state vehicle, a private vehicle, or a rental vehicle for the benefit of the State., Experience in:
- Using presentation tools such as Microsoft PowerPoint
- Using collaboration tools such Microsoft Teams, Slack
- Facilitating group discussion
- Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
- Project lifecycle management
- Risk, issue, and change management
- Problem solving and decision making
- Exceptional communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced and changing work environment
Knowledge in:
- Budgeting and cost estimation
- Risk management associated with IT projects and developing mitigation strategies.
- Proofreading, editing, attention to detail, 4-6 years of direct experience in Project Management, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Business Administration.
- Microsoft Project, ServiceNow, Monday.com
- Program or Portfolio governance
Post Op Requirements: Must possess a Kansas IT Project Management Methodology Certification or obtain certification within twelve months of employment.
