Job description

Asheville School seeks an experienced, collaborative, and visionary Director of Technology to lead the strategic planning, management, and advancement of the School's technology program. Reporting to the Chief Financial & Operations Officer, the Director of Technology is responsible for ensuring a secure, reliable, and innovative technology environment that supports the School's educational mission and operational excellence.

The Director provides leadership for all aspects of the School's technology operations, including network infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud services, enterprise systems, hardware and software lifecycle management, vendor relationships, technology budgeting, and end-user support. In partnership with academic leadership and faculty, the Director also champions the thoughtful integration of technology into teaching and learning, supports classroom innovation, leads technology-related professional development, and helps evaluate emerging educational technologies, including artificial intelligence.

The successful candidate will be a strategic leader and collaborative problem-solver with a strong background in information technology, cybersecurity, network administration, and educational technology. They will possess exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, a commitment to outstanding customer service, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical solutions for faculty, staff, students, and school leadership.

Requirements

Qualified candidates should possess a bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Educational Technology, or a related field (master's degree preferred) and a minimum of five years of progressively responsible technology leadership experience. Experience in an independent school or other educational environment, along with expertise in Apple devices, Microsoft 365, enterprise networking, cybersecurity, and student information systems, is highly desirable.
