Job description
Insight Global is seeking a Middleware Infrastructure Administrator to join an enterprise Application Platform & Infrastructure team. This individual will be responsible for designing, building, administering, and supporting the middleware and hosting infrastructure that powers mission-critical business applications across the organization. This role is heavily infrastructure-focused and serves as the bridge between application teams and core infrastructure teams. Rather than developing applications, this person will ensure the underlying hosting environments, middleware platforms, web servers, load balancers, databases, operating systems, and cloud infrastructure are properly configured, secure, scalable, and highly available. The ideal candidate will have strong experience supporting enterprise middleware technologies such as WebLogic, JBoss, Tomcat, and WebSphere, along with expertise in web hosting architecture, load balancing, database connectivity, Linux/Windows administration, and cloud infrastructure. They will work closely with Application Platform teams supporting Java/Spring and Kafka-based platforms to ensure applications can be successfully deployed and operated within enterprise infrastructure standards.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Administer and support enterprise middleware platforms including WebLogic, JBoss, Tomcat, and WebSphere. Design and maintain highly available application hosting environments across on-premises and cloud infrastructure. Partner with Application Platform teams to provision, configure, and support infrastructure required for enterprise application deployments. Manage web hosting infrastructure, including web servers, reverse proxies, SSL certificates, DNS, and networking configurations. Configure and support load balancing solutions to ensure application availability, scalability, and performance. Manage middleware integrations with enterprise databases, storage systems, networking components, and messaging platforms. Perform platform patching, upgrades, vulnerability remediation, and security hardening activities. Troubleshoot infrastructure, middleware, operating system, networking, and application connectivity issues. Create and maintain infrastructure standards, deployment procedures, and operational documentation. Support disaster recovery, business continuity, clustering, and failover configurations. Implement and maintain automation and DevOps processes related to middleware deployments and platform lifecycle management. Monitor platform performance, capacity, availability, and system health while proactively identifying opportunities for optimization. Support cloud-hosted middleware environments across Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
Requirements
5+ years of experience in Middleware Administration Experience designing solutions and configuring platforms onto operating systems Creating DevOps integrations for monthly upgrades Experience with middleware security, patching and compliance Platform Experience with Azure or Oracle Cloud, Windows and Linux Kafka, NodeJS and WebLogic Experience
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Bachelors Degree Experience with Kubernetes and containerized infrastructure environments. Experience supporting enterprise API Gateway technologies. Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or Ansible. Experience with enterprise monitoring and observability platforms. Experience supporting large-scale, highly available production environments.
