Are you passionate about simulation technology? Want to work in an international team, interact with different branches of SKF and collaborate in challenging projects to develop advanced engineering simulation software?, SKF is on the lookout for a highly skilled and motivated Scientific Software Engineer to become an integral part of our engineering software development team. This critical role is centered around the design, development, testing, and maintenance of the SimPro application family which is a sophisticated set of software solutions aimed at simulating SKF products and aiding engineers during the bearing selection and development process. The development team is full stack, including UI/UX design, software architecture, system design, AI technology integration and scientific backend algorithms. The selected candidate will be instrumental in collaborating with various SKF departments and customers to create robust and efficient software for bearings and their applications., Design and develop robust software applications for engineering analysis and product development. Collaborate with engineers and product managers/owners to define software requirements and specifications. Development and modernization of the software development framework; software architecture and systems design, I/O and postprocessing, build systems & CI/CD, etc. Implement or integrate (libraries of) algorithms and models for engineering calculations and simulations. Ensure software quality through extensive testing, validation, and documentation. Stay updated with the latest software development trends and technologies relevant to mechanical engineering. Provide technical information for testing and support teams. Participate in code reviews and follow software development best practices., You will report to the Software Development Manager, who is located in Houten, the Netherlands.
Requirements
Master's with at least 3 years of professional experience or a Ph.D. in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering, Software Engineering, Scientific computing, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field. Solid experience in software development, with proficiency in C++ language. Experience with software design and architecture, cloud application development, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software, Qt development, Python language or developing scientific or engineering software will be a plus. Demonstrated interest in or experience with mechanical engineering principles. Well-developed skills in analyzing issues, solving problems, and staying organized. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
