Job description
SONAR is looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer to help build and optimize the integrations that connect our platform to data partners and customers. You'll own real integration work end-to-end. Designing APIs, wiring up reliable data exchange, and shipping full-stack features on a fast-moving team that leans heavily on modern AI-assisted development.
This is a mid-level role: we expect you to build and ship features independently, and we'll pair you with senior engineers on the harder calls (security, architecture, taking rough prototypes to production). We work remote-friendly across the U.S.; we get together in the Chattanooga office periodically, so occasional travel is part of the job.
What you'll be doing:
-
Design, develop, and maintain integrations with data partners and customer systems ensuring reliable data flow and solid API performance.
-
Build and optimize RESTful APIs for both internal and external consumers.
-
Ship full-stack features with clean, well-tested, well-documented code, working independently on well-scoped work.
-
Troubleshoot production issues and improve performance alongside our DevOps team.
-
Refactor and modernize legacy code to improve maintainability.
-
Automate manual, repetitive processes to cut operational overhead.
-
Write the validation and verification tests that keep our integrations trustworthy.
-
Review teammates' code and give constructive, kind feedback.
-
All other duties as assigned.
How we work (and where you'll grow):
We build with agentic and spec-driven development as a normal part of the workflow, and a lot of our roadmap starts as fast prototypes sometimes from Product or other teams, not just engineering.
Requirements
You'll use AI-assisted tools day to day and get sharper at them here. Experience with agentic coding tools is a strong plus; a genuine willingness to learn them well is a requirement.
-
You'll help turn rough, agent-generated prototypes into production-quality code and you'll learn our bar for readability, extensibility, and security by pairing with senior engineers who do this constantly. Early on you'll do this with guidance; over time you'll own more of it.
-
Working in a large, real-world (brownfield) codebase with these tools is a plus if you're strong on the fundamentals.
What you bring:
-
4+ years of software engineering experience, as a full-stack developer or similar.
-
Solid C# and working proficiency in (or eagerness to ramp on) Go.
-
Front-end fundamentals: HTML, CSS, JavaScript and hands-on experience with a modern framework (Vue or React; we use Vue).
-
PostgreSQL and relational database design.
-
Building and consuming RESTful APIs.
-
A cloud-first mindset; comfort building and running apps in a cloud environment.
-
Strong fundamentals in version control (Git), testing, and documentation.
-
Curiosity about AI-assisted development and a track record of picking up new tools fast.
-
Clear communication, strong ownership, and the drive to take work all the way to done.
-
CS degree or equivalent practical experience.
