Job description

The IT Technician is responsible for supporting business operations by providing timely technical assistance for hardware, software, network connectivity, and business applications while meeting established service level agreements (SLAs). This role serves as the primary point of contact for end-user technical support, troubleshooting and resolving technology issues to minimize downtime and ensure business continuity. Responsibilities include installing, configuring, maintaining, and supporting computers, peripherals, business applications, and core IT systems, while assisting with network and server administration to ensure the organization's technology infrastructure remains reliable, secure, and efficient.

Essential Job Functions:

· Provide technical support for company-supported hardware, software, and business applications.

· Respond to Help Desk requests while meeting established service level expectations.

· Troubleshoot and resolve desktop, laptop, printer, server, and network connectivity issues.

· Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows workstations, Microsoft Office, and business applications.

· Support Microsoft 365 services including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and Microsoft Entra ID.

· Assist with user account administration, Active Directory, password resets, group policies, file shares, and printer management.

· Perform hardware setup, deployment, imaging, upgrades, and asset management for desktops, laptops, and peripheral devices.

· Monitor network performance and assist with LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, and firewall troubleshooting.

· Support Windows Server environments and assist with server maintenance and routine administration.

· Assist with endpoint security, antivirus management, patching, and system updates.

· Create and maintain documentation for IT systems, procedures, inventory, and network configurations.

· Coordinate with third-party vendors for hardware, software, and service support when needed.

· Support business operations by resolving technical issues in a timely and professional manner.

· Participate in projects involving system upgrades, deployments, and process improvements.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

· Perform repetitive motions involving typing, mouse use, and handling small components.

· Occasionally work in server rooms or equipment closets where temperatures and noise levels may vary.

· Travel between company locations, when required, to provide onsite technical support.

· Ability to respond to occasional after-hours or emergency support needs, as business operations require.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 2+ years of experience providing desktop or help desk support in a business environment.
  • Experience supporting Windows 10/11 desktops and laptops.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, and VPN.
  • Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, printers, and peripheral devices.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and grow within the IT department.
  • Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and willingness to follow instructions.
  • Reliability and consistency in completing assigned duties.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

  • Experience supporting Windows Server environments.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere or Hyper-V.
  • Experience with Ubiquiti networking equipment, Dell servers, storage solutions, or hosted VoIP systems.
  • Experience with endpoint security solutions, remote monitoring and management (RMM) tools, or ticketing systems such as NinjaOne.
  • Exposure to SQL Server, PowerShell scripting, or basic database administration.
  • Experience coordinating with technology vendors.
  • Knowledge of ITIL best practices.
  • CompTIA A+
  • CompTIA Network+
  • Microsoft Fundamentals certifications (Microsoft 365 or Azure)
  • Ubiquiti UniFi certification (USRCA) or equivalent

Physical Requirements

· Regularly sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach while performing job duties.

· Frequently use hands and fingers to operate computers, keyboards, tools, and other equipment.

· Lift, carry, push, and pull equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, including computers, monitors, printers, and networking equipment.
