Job description
The School of Data Science at the University of Virginia invites applications for a Research Program Administrator to provide essential administrative operational support to ensure the smooth functioning of research activities and projects for large-scale research projects under the leadership of Professor Don Brown.
Responsibilities:

Track faculty, staff, and student performance on research projects and provide feedback to ensure task completion within scheduled deadlines.

Support the planning and conduct of research events to include presentations of research project results to sponsors and the broader data science community.

Support calendaring and general administrative support for projects.

Arrange grant-related business travel, schedule meetings, and support agenda management and expense tracking for grant project.

Manage purchasing for grant-related expenses.

Work with post-award to maintain calendars of reporting and closeout reminders for sponsored projects and manage reporting deadlines in collaboration with project teams.

Work with post-award to complete administrative tasks related to compliance, generating grant documents, and payments for sponsored projects.

Contribute to special projects as needed., This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
Requirements

Associate's degree, or combination of education/experience/certifications in lieu of degree.

At least 2 years of relevant experience.

Ability to adapt and adjust to changes in work processes and environment.

Receptive to new ideas and accepts other perspectives.

Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Able to use cloud-based document management (Microsoft Office OneDrive, Box, Microsoft Teams) to share and collaborate with others.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience supporting research administration and/or grant management.

Bachelor's degree preferred.

Familiarity with federal and foundation funding agencies (e.g. NSF, NIH).
Anticipated hiring range: $21.63 - $26.44/hour equivalent to $45,000 - $55,000 annually, Education: Associate's degree in related field required, or combination of education/experience/certifications in lieu of degree.
Experience: 2+ years of relevant experience required.
