Job description
As the Application Manager, you own Sunshine Landscape's plant health and turf application program across the Maintenance division. Your job is to make sure applications are scheduled correctly, performed legally and safely, documented accurately, and delivered in a way that protects customer results, crew productivity, and company reputation.
You are responsible for keeping the application program organized, compliant, and productive. That includes planning routes and crew schedules, maintaining licensing and recordkeeping standards, monitoring product use, and making sure work is completed to Sunshine standards.

- Own the day-to-day execution of Sunshine's application program within the Maintenance division.
- Build and maintain treatment schedules based on property needs, seasonality, weather, product timing, and crew capacity.
- Make sure applications are performed according to label requirements, licensing rules, and company standards.
Crew scheduling and production control
- Schedule application crews and route work so labor, travel time, and production are managed well.
- Adjust schedules quickly when weather, customer requests, equipment issues, or staffing changes affect execution.
- Make sure crews start each day with clear route sheets, materials, equipment, and expectations.
Compliance, safety, and documentation
- Maintain all required records for chemical applications, product usage, licensing, and training.
- Enforce PPE, loading, mixing, transport, storage, and application safety standards.
- Track license renewals, continuing education requirements, and any role-specific certifications tied to application work.
Quality and customer results
- Monitor treatment quality and property results so weeds, turf issues, and plant health problems are addressed early.
- Respond to callbacks, quality concerns, and client questions with urgency and clear follow-through.
- Help the Maintenance Manager improve service consistency by identifying recurring quality or production issues.
Inventory, equipment, and program coordination
- Monitor chemical inventory, order needs, and usage trends so the program stays stocked without waste.
- Coordinate sprayers, spreaders, nurse tanks, and other application equipment so crews can execute reliably.
- Work with the Maintenance Manager and field leaders to align application work with mowing, irrigation, and seasonal property needs.
Team leadership and communication
- Set daily expectations for application crews and hold them accountable for safe, clean, productive work.
- Train team members on proper application methods, product handling, documentation, and customer-awareness standards.
- Communicate clearly with the Maintenance Manager about schedule risks, client issues, staffing gaps, and compliance concerns.
Daily expectations
- Review weather, route readiness, crew assignments, and product needs before the day starts.
- Confirm crews have the right materials, paperwork, PPE, and equipment.
- Monitor execution, answer field questions, and solve problems before they disrupt the day.
Weekly expectations
- Review schedule completion, carryovers, callbacks, safety issues, and documentation accuracy.
- Adjust production plans based on weather, seasonal timing, and account priorities.
- Review inventory levels and upcoming treatment demand.
Monthly expectations
- Review KPIs, callback trends, product usage, and crew performance with the Maintenance Manager.
- Audit records for compliance and license requirements.
- Identify process improvements in routing, quality control, safety, and training.
Seasonal expectations
- Prepare spring startup plans, product forecasting, and labor readiness for peak application volume.
- Adjust treatment timing and staffing during weather shifts, pest pressure, and seasonal transitions.
- Support fall program closeout, winter planning, and license renewal tracking as needed.
Requirements
- Current applications license, required
- Experience managing or coordinating a landscape application program, required
- Experience scheduling crews and organizing daily route execution, required
- Strong understanding of turf and ornamental applications, product timing, and safe chemical handling
- Strong working knowledge of label compliance, documentation, and regulatory requirements
- Ability to lead field employees with clear expectations and follow-through
- Strong communication and customer-handling skills
- Strong organization, planning, and documentation discipline
- Valid driver's license with clean enough record to operate company vehicles, assumed
- Ability to obtain or maintain any additional state or category-specific certifications Sunshine requires
