Job description
Insight Global is looking for a junior/mid-level Data Engineer to support a Chemical Manufacturing customer of ours. This position will be a 6-month contract-to-potential-hire and can sit remotely for an all-star candidate.
This individual will join the company's Data Engineering team, a newly formed team and practice reporting directly to the Director of Data & AI. This role will play a critical part in stabilizing and enhancing an inherited data platform from current vendor while also contributing to new development as the team's roadmap evolves., * Take ownership of an existing data engineering solution inherited from an incumbent vendor, including debugging, reverse engineering logic, and creating clear technical documentation

Serve as a liaison between the incumbent vendor and internal enterprise stakeholders, ensuring smooth knowledge transfer and continuity

Maintain and support existing vendor-built tools and pipelines (~50% of role)

Design and develop new data engineering solutions and enhancements (~50% of role)

Work extensively within the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem, including OneLake, Data Factory, Synapse, and Power BI

Build and maintain data pipelines using Python and SQL

Apply strong logical reasoning to troubleshoot issues, optimize workflows, and improve reliability

Embrace an AI-driven mindset, leveraging modern tools and concepts to improve efficiency and development practices
Requirements

2-3+ years of experience within data engineering

Snowflake
-
Azure Data Factory (ADF) OR DBT

SQL * Python (for ETL with ADF)

Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric Stack or specifically these MS Fabric tools: OneLake, Synapse, PowerBi, etc.

Databricks

Dynamics 365 - exposure to D365 CRM and ERP(F&O), setting up fabric links, etc.

AI concepts/ fundamentals (ex: GitHub Co-Pilot)
