Job description

The Wide Format Technician is responsible for producing high-quality large-format graphics through the efficient operation of digital printers, laminators, cutters, and finishing equipment. This role ensures all projects meet customer specifications for quality, accuracy, and timeliness while maintaining equipment, minimizing waste, and supporting a collaborative production environment., * Operate wide-format digital printers (HP Latex, Epson, Roland, Mimaki, EFI, etc.), laminators, cutters, and finishing equipment.

  • Prepare files, verify artwork specifications, and set up jobs according to production tickets and work orders.
  • Perform equipment inspections, routine maintenance, cleaning, and color calibration to ensure optimal performance.
  • Continuously monitor production runs, conduct in-process quality checks, and make adjustments to maintain color accuracy and product standards.
  • Complete finishing processes including laminating, trimming, mounting, weeding, masking, packaging, and preparation for installation or shipment.
  • Inspect finished products against customer specifications for quality, color, and cosmetic standards.
  • Manage inventory of inks, media, substrates, laminates, and consumables; coordinate with vendors for pricing and ordering.
  • Assist with shipping, receiving, material handling, and inventory control as needed.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and production issues to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain accurate production records and communicate issues promptly to supervisors.
  • Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe while strictly following company safety protocols.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support production goals.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of hands-on experience in wide-format printing, sign production, or digital print environments.
  • Proven experience operating large-format printers (HP Latex, Epson, Canon, Roland, Mimaki, EFI, or similar).
  • Familiarity with laminators, vinyl cutters, and finishing equipment.
  • Basic proficiency with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, and PDF workflows.
  • Strong attention to detail, quality focus, and ability to read/interpret technical instructions.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with RIP software (ONYX, Caldera, FlexiSIGN, VersaWorks, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of color management and printer profiling.
  • Experience with vinyl application and on-site graphic installation.
  • Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain).

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to regularly lift and move materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, and repetitive hand/arm movements.
  • Comfort operating production machinery and material handling equipment.

Work Environment

This position is based in a production/manufacturing facility with exposure to printing equipment, cutting tools, inks, adhesives, and other materials. Occasional overtime may be required to meet tight customer deadlines.
