Job description
We are supporting a large healthcare system as they undertake a major network hardware deployment across hospitals, clinics, and care facilities throughout Wisconsin. We are seeking a Network Deployment Engineer to join the field team responsible for installing, configuring, and validating newly purchased network equipment across the client's environment.
This is a hands-on, field-based role that requires frequent statewide travel. You will work alongside experienced network engineers and clinical IT staff to ensure seamless deployment activities in active healthcare environments.
Responsibilities
- Install and configure enterprise network equipment, including wireless access points and access-layer switches
- Replace legacy hardware with newly deployed devices across hospitals, clinics, and remote care facilities
- Follow established network standards for VLANs, QoS, security settings, and controller-based wireless configurations
- Perform onsite surveys to confirm cabling, mounting locations, PoE readiness, and environmental requirements
- Document each installation with detailed location notes, photos, and validation results
- Collaborate with the client's network engineering team during cutovers and post-deployment testing
- Troubleshoot onsite connectivity issues and escalate when necessary
- Provide consistent progress updates to project management regarding completed sites, timelines, and risks
- Maintain a strong commitment to safety, professionalism, and patient-sensitive awareness within clinical settings
Requirements
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with enterprise networking
- Strong working knowledge of wireless access point installation/configuration (Cisco, Meraki, Aruba, or similar)
- Experience mounting APs, validating RF signal, confirming switch port readiness, and following wireless design guidelines
- Proficiency with switch provisioning, VLAN configuration, and general Layer 2 networking
- Comfortable working onsite in hospitals and clinical facilities
- Ability to travel frequently throughout Wisconsin
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience working in healthcare environments
- Participation in large-scale hardware refresh or infrastructure rollout projects
- Familiarity with Ekahau or other wireless planning/validation tools
- Experience collaborating with remote network engineering teams
Pay: $45.00 - $55.00 per hour
