Job description

The Development Manager is responsible for coordinating and executing Mental Wellness Center's (MWC) annual fundraising strategy while overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Development Department. This position supports the organization's philanthropic goals by managing donor stewardship, fundraising campaigns, grant administration support, community partnerships, special events, and donor database operations.

Working collaboratively with leadership, board members, volunteers, donors, and community partners, the Development Manager cultivates meaningful relationships, ensure accurate fundraising data and reporting, and helps advance Mental Wellness Center's mission through sustainable philanthropic support. The Development Manager approaches all responsibilities with professionalism, collaboration, intergrity, and commitment in mental wellness.

CORE RESPONSIBILITES

  • Coordinate annual fundraising campaigns, donor stewardship activities, and development initiatives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, community partners, and volunteers.
  • Plan and execute fundraising events, including logistics, registration, sponsorship fulfillment, and donor engagement.
  • Prepare donor acknowledgments, stewardship communications, impact reports, and fundraising materials.
  • Support grant activities by coordinating application materials, reporting requirements, and deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate donor records, process gifts, and manage the organization's donor database.
  • Generate fundraising reports and track campaign performance to support strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather program information, success stories, and fundraising content.
  • Represent the Mental Wellness Center at community events and networking opportunities.
  • Support the Development Department with additional projects and initiatives that advance the organization's mission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Communications, Nonprofit Management, Marketing, Public Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum three years of progressively responsible experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, philanthropy, or a related field.
  • Experience coordinating annual fundraising campaigns, donor stewardship, fundraising events, or grant administration.
  • Experience working with donor database systems and fundraising reporting.
  • Experience collaborating with community organizations, volunteers, boards, and donors preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record consistent with MWC's policy and insurance requirements if driving is required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of nonprofit fundraising principles, donor stewardship, relationship management, and philanthropic best practices.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including professional donor correspondence and presentation development.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with donors, volunteers, board members, community partners, and colleagues.
  • Ability to analyze fundraising data and prepare meaningful reports.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality regarding donor and organizational information.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency with donor management systems, including DonorPerfect, and familiarity with Canva or similar design software.
