Job description

The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a part-time Assistant Data Manager position. The Global Psychiatric Epidemiology Group (GPEG) in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, seeks a detail-oriented, analytical, and motivated Assistant Data Manager to join our research team. This role supports the life-cycle of public health study data, ensuring data integrity, security, and accessibility from collection through analysis. You will work closely with data managers, principal investigators, and field researchers to translate complex public health data into clean, well-structured datasets. As Assistant Data Manager, you will help coordinate research data using REDCap and SQL. The position includes planning and performing preliminary statistical analyses, and de-identifying and preparing data collected to be submitted to NIH Data Repositories., * Database Management & Design: Assist in building, testing, and maintaining secure data collection instruments and databases, primarily using REDCap.

  • Data Cleaning & Quality Assurance: Develop and execute Python and SQL scripts to identify discrepancies, track missing data, and perform rigorous data cleaning and validation.
  • Dataset Management: Merge, transform, and manage large, longitudinal datasets from diverse sources while maintaining meticulous version control and documentation (data dictionaries, codebooks).
  • Compliance & Security: Ensure all data handling practices strictly adhere to institutional protocols, HIPAA regulations, and human subjects research protections.
  • Team Collaboration: Assist in preparing data summaries for progress reports, grant applications and stakeholder presentations., The Mission of the Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. Requirements

  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in Public Health (Master's a Plus), Health Informatics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills: At least (1) year of experience with REDCap (building forms, managing user rights, and data exports).
  • At least (1) year of relational databases and SQL (writing queries, joins, and data extraction).
  • Certification: Current CITI Program certification (Human Subjects Research / Good Clinical Practice).
  • Core Competencies: At least (1) year of experience in data cleaning, dataset management, and maintaining data integrity., * Experience working on longitudinal public health studies, community-based research, or multi-site clinical trials.
  • Familiarity with additional statistical software (e.g., R, SAS, or Stata).
  • Experience in handling sensitive or protected health information (PHI).
  • Strong organizational skills with an exceptional eye for detail.
