Job description
The Data Analyst develops and supports web applications, data systems, and analytics solutions that advance research, instruction, and operational effectiveness. This position collaborates with faculty, researchers, and staff to integrate data from multiple sources, build APIs and dashboards, automate workflows, and maintain research computing infrastructure, ensuring reliable, high-quality insights and scalable, well-documented technology solutions. This role complies with all State and University information technology, cybersecurity, data privacy, and security policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations. This is a grant-funded position dependent on availability of funds and/or departmental need. Core Responsibilities
- Designs and develops web applications to support data-driven research, teaching, and operational needs. Provides guidance to university stakeholders on best practices in data management, application architecture, and analytic solutions.
- Builds and maintains RESTful APIs and backend services to support data ingestion, processing, and delivery.
- Supports and maintains computing infrastructure, contributes to research in emerging technologies, and collaborates with students, faculty, and staff on advanced research initiatives.
- Develops and maintains dashboards and visual reports while preparing and analyzing structured and unstructured data to uncover trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
- Writes and maintains SQL queries to extract and transform data from internal databases and external data sources.
- Develops Python scripts to automate data processing, analysis, and reporting workflows.
- Installs, maintains, and upgrades computing systems and infrastructure to support departmental research and technology needs.
- Integrates data from multiple sources and ensures data quality, consistency, and accuracy.
- Documents analytical processes, datasets, and reporting workflows to support transparency and reproducibility.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in a related field.

Three (3) years of related work experience.

Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. This position will work both on campus and remotely in Texas. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility. This position is contingent upon a successful background check. Verification of a valid driver's license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) may be completed as applicable. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire. Candidates must be eligible to successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.
Benefits & conditions
Salary Range: Starting at $80,000 annualized, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.
