Job description
FireFly Robotics builds autonomous turf equipment used across golf, sports turf, and large-scale turf operations. Our teams in engineering, manufacturing, field service, operations, and product development move fast and solve real problems. We're hiring an IT Lead to own the company's day-to-day technology operations and serve as the primary point of accountability for our IT infrastructure, systems, and people.
This role goes beyond keeping the lights on. You'll lead help-desk operations, manage our network infrastructure, drive SaaS governance, and partner with engineering, operations, and leadership to align IT investments with where the business is going. You'll also have the opportunity to build process, documentation, and automation in an environment that genuinely values clean, reliable systems.
Location & Schedule Salt Lake City, UT - on-site, full time.
What You'll Do
- Lead the company's day-to-day IT operations, serving as the primary point of accountability for help desk, asset management, software evaluation, and on-premises network infrastructure
- Coordinate and prioritize work across IT staff and contractors, establishing processes that scale with company growth
- Own on-premises network infrastructure, including VPNs, VLANs, and firewall policies for corporate and OT network segments
- Lead the evaluation and selection of third-party SaaS tools, and govern shadow IT controls and acceptable use policies
- Own IT asset lifecycle management, including procurement, inventory tracking, provisioning, and decommissioning of hardware and software licenses
- Directly handle and oversee internal help desk operations - triaging, resolving, and tracking hardware, software, and connectivity issues for all staff with timely follow-through
- Manage identity and access across Office 365, Entra ID, and AWS, including SSO configuration, role assignments, onboarding, offboarding, and periodic access reviews
- Manage employee onboarding and offboarding IT processes, including workstation setup, account provisioning, and equipment retrieval
- Support and maintain on-premises server and endpoint infrastructure in coordination with engineering and operations teams
- Monitor system health, respond to incidents, and drive root cause analysis and remediation
- Define and enforce IT policies, standards, and documentation including runbooks, network diagrams, and governance artifacts
- Manage relationships with IT vendors and service providers, tracking SLA performance and surfacing contract or renewal recommendations to leadership
- Collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams to align IT investments and roadmap with business needs
- Drive standardization and automation of repetitive IT operations through scripting and configuration management
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in IT operations or systems administration, with demonstrated ownership of IT functions or technical initiatives
- Proven track record owning or leading IT help desk and asset lifecycle operations in a fast-moving company
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and firewall management
- Experience managing Office 365 tenants, including Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, and Entra ID (formerly Azure AD)
- Experience evaluating and governing SaaS tools, including vendor assessments and acceptable use frameworks
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and executive stakeholders
- Ability to manage competing priorities, communicate clearly about tradeoffs, and make sound decisions with imperfect information
What Makes You Stand Out
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related engineering discipline
- Strong working knowledge of Linux administration (Ubuntu and Debian preferred), including service management, user/group management, log analysis, and network configuration
- Proficiency in Bash scripting for automation and system maintenance tasks
- Familiarity with IT/OT network segmentation and industrial automation environments
- Experience with endpoint management and MDM platforms at company scale
- Exposure to enterprise monitoring and observability tooling such as Datadog
- Experience contributing to or owning IT governance programs, including acceptable use policies, vendor assessments, and access control frameworks
