Job description
This position is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the DoIT-NSSB data network and all associated services. Qualified candidates will organize, install, and support the Department of Information Technology's internal and external network systems, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs) and ensure communication between state agencies. This position also requires application and advancement of IT Network Administrator skills in a constantly changing WAN/LAN environment. How does it get done?
- Assist in the design, documentation, and implementation of new and/or improved network systems;
- Monitor and report on network utilization and escalate issues to higher level network support;
- Respond to escalated trouble calls; diagnose and develop solutions/repair;
- Troubleshoot and maintain the security of the network infrastructure;
- Patch and perform routine maintenance of network devices;
- Apply oral and written communication skills to communicate complex technical issues to non-technical users;
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with customers and technical staff;
- Maintain knowledge of network technologies and standards;
- Implement the network configuration, and may oversee installation and implementation of the network;
- Ability to read technical documents, maintain accurate records, and prioritize work;
- Makes recommendations for changes and may implement agreed upon enhancements;
- Maintains and validates back-ups of network configuration;
- Provide technical leadership to first-level staff;

All New Mexico state agencies that use the Department of Information Technology's Data Network.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Engineering, or similar technical degree and two (2) years of experience in network administration. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Must possess and maintain current ID or Driver's License. Pre-employment background investigation is required, and employment is conditional pending results. Working Conditions
Must carry a state issued cell phone. Ability to be mobile and work between Santa Fe and Albuquerque office agencies. Office setting in both Santa Fe and Albuquerque offices, extensive personal computer, and telephone usage with extended periods of sitting. Must also be able to lift 25lbs.. Supplemental Information
