Job description

  • We support a security-critical production estate, including legacy Solaris platforms.
  • We administer Linux and Solaris environments in a controlled production setting.
  • We troubleshoot OS-level issues across CPU, memory, disk, and services.
  • We perform system patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
  • We provide incident, problem, and change execution support.
  • We use scripting and automation to support operational tasks.
  • We operate independently in a secure, audited, highly regulated infrastructure.
  • We support exit delivery across a mixed Linux and legacy Unix estate.

  • DevOps, We are hiring for a Linux/Unix Engineer on a 3-month contract, with possible extension, based in Manchester or Barrow on a hybrid 80% office and 20% remote arrangement. The role offers a rate of £470 per day inside IR35. This is a short-term opportunity for technically strong Unix engineers with Solaris expertise to join a security-critical, highly regulated production environment and support exit delivery. We encourage applications from experienced SC-cleared Linux/Unix engineers with deep Linux and Solaris administration capability, particularly those with public-sector experience.

Requirements

  • We require active SC Clearance.
  • We require sole UK nationality.
  • We are looking for strong hands-on Linux/Unix engineers with deep Linux and Solaris administration capability.
  • We require experience administering Linux systems such as RHEL or CentOS, or equivalent.
  • We require strong experience administering legacy Solaris systems.
  • We require knowledge of ZFS, system stability, and production support.
  • We require core Unix engineering skills, including OS-level troubleshooting of CPU, memory, disk, and services.
  • We require experience with system patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
  • We require scripting and automation skills, including shell scripting and basic tooling.
  • We require production support experience in live enterprise environments.
  • We require experience handling incident, problem, and change execution.
  • We prefer experience in a highly regulated public-sector environment.
