Job description

In this role, you will lead the delivery of Thirteen's reporting and analytics strategy, taking ownership of semantic modelling within Microsoft Fabric and driving the transition from traditional import-based reporting to a modern Direct Lake architecture. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality Power BI dashboards and ArcGIS solutions, enabling scalable self-service analytics and ensuring colleagues across the organisation can make informed decisions through trusted, accessible data.

You will manage a small team of enthusiastic Power BI developers, providing technical leadership, mentoring and direction whilst remaining hands-on in the design and delivery of solutions. Working closely with stakeholders across the business, you will ensure our data products are secure, intuitive and aligned to organisational needs, helping to embed a truly data-driven culture throughout Thirteen.

This is a role with real influence, offering the opportunity to lead the delivery of innovative reporting, analytics and data science solutions within one of the region's leading housing organisations.

You'll be expected to work at least 2-3 days a week from our fantastic office at Hudson Quay in Middlesbrough. We'll need you to be flexible around business and team need, so you may need to come into the office more frequently when required, * Lead the migration from traditional reporting approaches to Microsoft Fabric, helping establish the foundations for self-service analytics through Direct Lake, semantic modelling and trusted data products.

  • Take ownership of semantic modelling and reporting standards within Microsoft Fabric, ensuring our analytics platform is scalable, performant and supports future growth.
  • Manage and mentor a team of Power BI and GIS specialists, providing technical leadership whilst actively contributing to the design and delivery of reporting and analytics solutions.
  • Deliver intuitive Power BI dashboards, spatial analytics and data products that enable colleagues to make informed decisions using trusted, accessible data.
  • Work in partnership with business stakeholders to identify opportunities for improvement and deliver data-driven solutions that support organisational transformation.
  • Champion the adoption of self-service analytics, helping colleagues across the business gain greater value from data through modern reporting and analytics capabilities.
  • Ensure all reporting and analytics solutions are secure, governed, documented and aligned with organisational standards and best practice.
  • Support the wider evolution of Thirteen's Data Services function as we establish a modern data platform built on Microsoft Fabric, Purview, Azure DevOps and Power BI.

Requirements

  • As someone who genuinely enjoys working with data, you'll have experience delivering reporting solutions using modern data platforms, such as Fabric and Synapse.
  • You'll bring recognised expertise in Power BI Data Analysis, validated through completion of the PL-300 assessment, as well as recognised Microsoft credentials as a Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate (DP-600).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Fabric, Power BI Service, OneLake and Direct Lake.
  • As a fantastic leader, you'll have experience managing enterprise Power BI or reporting teams and prioritising multi-stream work.
  • Technical knowledge and expertise in semantic modelling, DAX, SQL, and Python. Skilled at collaborating and engaging with stakeholders at all levels. You'll provide expert technical guidance in Power BI and Fabric, to translate technical concepts into clear insights and embed data-driven culture across Thirteen.
