Job description
You will support the day-to-day running of the Laboratory by helping ensure that samples, records and laboratory processes are handled accurately, efficiently and in line with required standards.
What you'll do
You will support sample administration, laboratory coordination and wider operational activities, working closely with Laboratory and Quality colleagues.
In practice, that means you will:
- Register, label and track samples accurately to ensure correct documentation and traceability
- Check sample paperwork, labelling and flow through the Laboratory
- Maintain worksheets, records and relevant information in Excel, Microsoft Office and, where applicable, LIMS
- Support the processing of analytical results and associated documentation
- Assist with laboratory equipment mapping and serial-number records
- Contribute to laboratory projects, innovation activities and improvement initiatives
- Support selected laboratory analysis activities following training
- Provide cover for colleagues when needed
- Maintain an organised work area and follow relevant laboratory and quality procedures
This is a practical, site-based role with opportunities to develop over time, depending on your interests and the needs of the Laboratory team
Requirements
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a practical laboratory environment and is interested in sample handling, traceability, quality processes and laboratory operations. The role is ideal for an early-career candidate, recent graduate or someone with experience who is looking for a flexible part-time position., We are looking for someone who enjoys structured, accurate work and is keen to learn in a practical laboratory environment.
You may be a recent graduate, an early-career professional or someone with previous experience in a laboratory, quality, manufacturing, food, feed, FMCG or other regulated environment.
You'll also need:
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well with Laboratory and Quality colleagues
- Basic Excel and Microsoft Office skills
- Comfort able working in a busy, site-based environment
- Willingness to learn new systems and processes
- Interest in developing your laboratory, quality or technical skills over time
- Soft s kills like strong attention to detail, a methodical and organised approach to handling records, labels and documentation accurately, and a proactive, curious and reliable mindset.
Previous experience with sample registration, traceability, laboratory systems, quality documentation or basic laboratory analysis would be beneficial, but is not essential. Full training will be provided, If you are detail-oriented, curious and interested in developing within a laboratory or quality environment, we would love to hear from you.
Benefits & conditions
- Contract: Part-time (20 hours per week)
- Working hours: Monday to Friday, typically 4 hours per day, with some flexibility around the daily working pattern
