Job description
Performs professional and technical work supporting department's computer systems and systems users. Coordinates and implements the activities and operations involved in ensuring the accessibility, integrity, and operational readiness of the assigned department software and hardware systems. This position serves as a lead for information technology function in the department. May supervise supportive personnel. Does related work as required. Work is performed under general supervision. The hiring salary for this position is $78,915.20 to $108,513.60 annually based on experience. The full salary range for this position is $78,915.20 to $138,112.00 annually to provide opportunity for growth and development.
Examples of Duties
- Serves as the liaison between the Department of Information Technology (IT) and the assigned department;
- May supervise, assign, and monitor the work of others;
- Provides training, guidance and/or orientation to supportive personnel;
- Evaluates, troubleshoots, diagnoses, repairs, and resolves complex computer software and hardware and communication connectivity problems;
- Interfaces with vendor tech support, schedules maintenance windows and directs implementation of operating system and software upgrades; performs installation and programming configurations; creates and maintain file backups as needed;
- Coordinates and implements system updates and maintenance windows and performs software licensing tracking and management;
- Monitors and maintains systems and standards for network security, direct structure, IP addressing, backup, recovery, and computer imaging; provides support of server migrations;
- Creates, applies, and manages computer images;
- Documents methods, analysis, and remedies for software and hardware;
- Conduct and maintain inventory of all computers;

- Trains users to be able to successfully use the systems, minimize errors, and have knowledge to troubleshoot;
- Provides routine operational and technical support and maintenance for department software applications and business systems not supported by the IT Department;
- Works with vendor for software support and other technical issues;
- Gathers information and identifies areas in need of improvement as pertaining to IT processes and procedures. researches, develops, documents and recommends solutions regarding those areas;
- Works closely with the IT department to analyze, design, develop, and implement new systems;
- Works with network team to maintain and upgrade servers that support the assigned department;
- Develops budget requirements for software and hardware purchase requirements;
- Obtaining quotes, submits and tracks Purchase Requests for hardware and software;
- Produces and distributes a variety of statistical data, reports, and computer printouts;
- Manages and supports Cisco VPN accounts, printer mapping, file conversion and video support;
- Implements policies, procedures, and standards relating to computer and other related technologies;
- Supports server migrations;
- Plans and performs assignments requiring independent judgment and initiative with a minimum of supervision;
- Provides end-user support and systems management;
- Provides direct user training for hardware, software, and cybersecurity;
- Effectively communicate ideas to technical and not technical audience;
- Conducts after hours support as needed;
- Performs related tasks as required.
Requirements
- Knowledge of various computer devices such as desktops, laptops, servers, cell phones, modems, and peripherals;
- Knowledge of various information technology platforms and operating systems;
- Knowledge of design, implementation, testing, updating, maintenance, evaluation, and analysis of system configuration, system setup, and application data;
- Knowledge of IT requirements gathering and interpretation;
- Knowledge of strategies and testing of computer system programming and Microsoft operating systems;
- Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory services and server related technologies;
- General knowledge of Microsoft Exchange services, principles, and techniques;
- Knowledge of techniques and procedures pertaining to installation and maintenance of vendor software and data communication systems;
- Knowledge of policies, procedures, and business operations related to the functions being supported;
- Knowledge of customer service principles;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, superiors and other departments;
- Ability to coordinate and communicate with vendors on help calls and program change requests;
