Job description
CloudFirst is seeking a hands-on Systems Engineer to support client environments across Microsoft 365, endpoint management, networking, cybersecurity, and infrastructure projects.
Our engineers work across the full technology lifecycle-from Microsoft 365, Intune, Entra ID, and security administration to firewall deployments, wireless networking, infrastructure upgrades, and client modernization initiatives.
Current projects include substantial network and infrastructure work, while our long-term business remains centered around managed Microsoft cloud, security, and modern workplace services. As a result, this role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys both networking and Microsoft technologies and wants to continue growing across multiple disciplines.
This position combines remote support, onsite project work, infrastructure deployments, and direct client engagement.
Key ResponsibilitiesMicrosoft Cloud & Endpoint Management
- Administer and support Microsoft 365 environments
- Manage Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD)
- Configure and support Microsoft Intune
- Deploy and support Microsoft Defender solutions
- Administer Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive
- Implement Conditional Access policies and security controls
- Perform user onboarding, offboarding, and lifecycle management
- Troubleshoot Microsoft 365, identity, authentication, and device management issues
Network & Infrastructure Engineering
- Deploy, configure, and support Fortinet firewalls
- Configure site-to-site and remote access VPNs
- Deploy and support UniFi switching, wireless infrastructure, and controllers
- Configure VLANs, network segmentation, and security policies
- Troubleshoot LAN, WAN, Internet, VPN, and wireless networking issues
- Support Windows Server environments and core infrastructure services
- Assist with server upgrades, hardware replacements, and infrastructure modernization initiatives
- Support backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions
- Maintain network documentation and technical diagrams
Client Support & Technical Escalations
- Serve as a Tier 2 / Tier 3 escalation resource for client environments
- Troubleshoot desktop, laptop, mobile device, printer, and application issues
- Perform onsite support and project work as required
- Communicate technical issues and recommendations clearly to clients
- Participate in root cause analysis and long-term remediation efforts
- Deliver exceptional customer service and professionalism
Projects & Professional Services
- Participate in Microsoft 365 migrations and onboarding projects
- Support Intune deployments and endpoint modernization initiatives
- Assist with network refreshes, firewall upgrades, and wireless redesign projects
- Perform office technology deployments and infrastructure implementations
- Validate completed projects and support post-implementation stabilization
- Support security improvement initiatives and remediation projects
Documentation & Service Delivery Excellence
- Maintain accurate ticket documentation and time entries in ConnectWise Manage
- Follow CloudFirst engineering standards, SOPs, and best practices
- Create and update technical documentation, network diagrams, and knowledge base articles
- Contribute to process improvement and operational maturity initiatives
- Ensure all work is thoroughly documented for supportability and client success, * Successfully support assigned client environments with minimal supervision
- Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft 365, Intune, Fortinet, and UniFi environments
- Participate in onsite client engagements and infrastructure projects
- Consistently maintain accurate documentation and ticket updates
- Build trusted relationships with clients and internal teams
- Contribute to project delivery and technical standardization efforts
- Demonstrate adherence to CloudFirst engineering standards and service delivery practices
Requirements
- 4-7 years of experience supporting IT infrastructure in an MSP or multi-client environment
- Experience supporting multiple client environments simultaneously
- Strong client-facing communication skills
- Experience performing onsite technical work and infrastructure deployments
Technical Skills
- Microsoft 365 administration
- Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD)
- Microsoft Intune administration
- Microsoft Defender experience
- Windows Server administration
- Windows 10 and Windows 11 troubleshooting
- Fortinet or similar firewall platforms
- Managed switching and wireless networking
- TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN technologies
- VLAN configuration and troubleshooting
- Network infrastructure support and diagnostics
- Experience using ConnectWise Manage or similar PSA platforms
Travel Requirements : Regular travel to client sites throughout New York City, Westchester County, Rye, NY, and the Hudson Valley
Other Requirements
- Valid driver's license
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to travel regularly throughout the New York metropolitan region
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Fortinet NSE Certification
- Experience with UniFi networking solutions
- Microsoft certifications (MS-102, MD-102, AZ-104, or similar)
- Azure administration experience
- PowerShell scripting experience
- Experience with Auvik or network monitoring platforms
- Experience with endpoint security and cybersecurity best practices
