Job description
Robocode teaches coding, robotics, AI and game development to children aged 6 to 17. Our front desk is the heart of the centre: every child who enters or leaves the building passes it, and every parent's impression of us starts there.
We are looking for someone warm, organised and completely dependable to run it. This is a genuine safeguarding role, not just a reception job: you manage sign-in and sign-out for every child, you make sure children only ever leave with the right adult, and the desk is staffed every minute the centre is open. Beyond safety, you are the person who knows every family: which child is whose, who collects them, and which parent needs a little extra reassurance.
What you'll do
- Staff the front desk at all times the centre is open, greeting every parent and child warmly, by name wherever possible
- Manage sign-in and sign-out for every child, release children only to authorised adults, and call the parent within 15 minutes of any missed pickup
- Control building access: visitors signed in and accompanied, doors secured, no child ever unsupervised in reception
- Handle calls, emails, WhatsApp messages and walk-ins, giving accurate information on courses, timetables, pricing and bookings
- Book new families onto our free weekend workshops, send confirmations, and manage waitlists so no family's interest is lost
- Keep parent and child records accurate: emergency contacts, collection authorisations, medical and consent notes
- Process routine payments, support new starters' first-lesson readiness, and keep reception tidy and presentable
- Pass new enquiries to our Sales & Marketing Coordinator and service issues to the Centre Manager, so everything reaches the right person the same day
Requirements
- Warm, welcoming and unflappable: the desk gets busy, parents get anxious, and you stay pleasant and precise
- Highly reliable and punctual: this role only works if you can be depended on absolutely
- Naturally organised, with real care for accurate records
- Clear and confident on the phone and in writing
- Comfortable with basic payments and administration
- Able to work full time on site, including weekday evenings and Saturdays
- Right to work in the UK
Nice to have: experience in reception, front of house or customer service, especially in a school, nursery, clinic or other child-facing setting; familiarity with booking or CRM systems; local knowledge of the area. None of these are essential., Tell us briefly why you would be a great first face of Robocode, and any experience you have with reception, customer service or working around children.
