Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a proactive, customer-focused Field Service Engineer to join our team.

As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for providing first-class service to our customers in the Midlands /Birmingham, with occasional responsibilities in other parts of the country on an ad hoc basis, and periodic travel to other parts of the country to provide coverage during holidays, etc, * Install, configure, support, and maintain the Vision RT product portfolio at customer sites.

  • Conduct site surveys to verify installation requirements and ensure all activities are completed in accordance with Vision RT processes and quality standards.
  • Deliver remote and on-site technical support, diagnosing and resolving software, hardware, and connectivity issues.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, system upgrades, and product updates to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Support customers with Windows-based system configuration, troubleshooting, and device management.
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues and work with customer IT teams to resolve configuration and communication challenges.
  • Maintain accurate service documentation, installation records, and technical reports.
  • Build strong relationships with customers and provide a professional, responsive support experience.
  • Travel throughout the assigned region to support installations, maintenance activities, and customer requests, with occasional travel to support other regions as required.
  • Ability to mount wall monitors
  • Ability to handle and carefully route communication cables over distances up to 50m
  • Comfortable up & down ladders
  • Can work alongside 3rd party in congested new building sites following safe working practices and use of PPE

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems, including:
  • Windows configuration and system settings
  • Device Manager and hardware management
  • Disk and storage management
  • BIOS/firmware configuration
  • Windows services and security settings
  • Event Viewer and system troubleshooting tools
  • Experience diagnosing and resolving software, operating system, and hardware issues in a customer-facing environment.
  • Good understanding of networking fundamentals, including:
  • IP addressing and network configuration
  • Common network protocols and ports
  • Basic network security concepts
  • Windows networking tools and command-line troubleshooting utilities
  • Solid PC hardware knowledge, including:
  • Component identification and replacement
  • Peripheral device configuration and troubleshooting
  • Hardware connectivity and performance considerations
  • Experience delivering remote and on-site technical support.
  • Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills with a methodical approach to troubleshooting.
  • Customer-focused with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable working independently and managing priorities across multiple customer sites.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation and follow established installation and service procedures.
  • Results-oriented with a proactive, "can-do" approach to customer satisfaction.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience supporting Windows Server environments.
  • Basic understanding of SQL databases and database connectivity.
  • Familiarity with RAID concepts and storage technologies.
  • Previous experience within healthcare technology, medical devices, radiotherapy, medical imaging, or a similarly regulated environment.
  • Technical certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft, or equivalent industry-recognised qualifications.
