Job description

Quantum Science Solutions (QSS) is seeking an experienced AWS Data Automation Engineer to support mission-critical technology integration and cybersecurity initiatives for Federal customers. This position is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing cloud-native automation solutions that streamline data ingestion, analytics, and technology integration workflows. The selected candidate will leverage AWS cloud services, Python development, ETL pipelines, and automation frameworks to build scalable data solutions supporting malware analysis, AI/ML initiatives, and enterprise technology modernization. Working alongside software engineers, cybersecurity analysts, cloud architects, and data engineers, the AWS Data Automation Engineer will automate complex processes, improve operational efficiency, and enable rapid deployment of mission capabilities., * Design, develop, and maintain automated data pipelines supporting enterprise technology integration initiatives.

  • Build scalable ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes for ingesting, transforming, and normalizing structured and unstructured data.
  • Develop automation workflows supporting malware sample collection, detonation, classification, and taxonomy management.
  • Design and implement secure AWS cloud architectures supporting enterprise data processing and analytics.
  • Develop data ingestion pipelines utilizing AWS-native services and cloud-based data storage solutions.
  • Implement automated data integration between pilot, testing, and production environments.
  • Support the development, enhancement, and sustainment of Automated Malware Analysis (AMA) platforms.
  • Develop Python scripts and automation tools to eliminate repetitive technical tasks and improve operational efficiency.
  • Support AI/ML data preparation, feature engineering, and automated preprocessing workflows.
  • Implement monitoring, alerting, and health monitoring solutions for automated systems and cloud services.
  • Develop API integrations that enable secure data exchange and workflow automation across enterprise systems.
  • Design efficient S3 data storage architectures and schemas optimized for analytics and large-scale processing.
  • Maintain source code repositories, technical documentation, deployment guides, and operational runbooks.
  • Optimize automation workflows for performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with analysts, engineers, and stakeholders to identify automation opportunities and improve operational processes.
  • Ensure automated workflows maintain data quality, integrity, and compliance with organizational standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives for cloud automation, data engineering, and enterprise integration capabilities.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Active Secret clearance.
  • Ability to obtain DHS Suitability.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in automation engineering, data engineering, software development, or related technical disciplines.
  • Subject matter expertise with core AWS services, including: Amazon VPC, Amazon EC2, Amazon EKS, AWS IAM, Amazon SQS, Amazon SNS, AWS Lambda, Amazon Route 53
  • Experience designing and implementing AWS-based data ingestion pipelines.
  • Experience designing Amazon S3 storage architectures and schemas supporting analytics workloads.
  • Strong programming experience using Python, including data manipulation and automation libraries.
  • Experience developing ETL pipelines and enterprise data integration solutions.
  • Experience utilizing automation frameworks and workflow orchestration technologies.
  • Experience developing and integrating RESTful APIs and enterprise integrations.
  • Understanding of relational databases, data modeling, and enterprise data architecture.
  • Experience utilizing Git-based version control and CI/CD development practices.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into scalable automation solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience developing automation for malware analysis, cyber defense, or threat intelligence operations.

  • Experience configuring and administering AWS services including: AWS Budgets, Amazon EMR, Amazon Kinesis, Amazon GuardDuty, Amazon CloudWatch, AWS OpsWorks

  • Experience supporting AI/ML pipelines, feature engineering, and automated data preparation.

  • Experience with workflow orchestration platforms such as: Apache Airflow and Prefect

  • Background supporting cybersecurity operations or threat intelligence automation.

  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies including: Docker and Kubernetes

  • Experience with streaming data platforms such as: Apache Kafka and Amazon Kinesis

  • Experience with big data technologies including: Apache Spark, Hadoop

  • Experience supporting Federal cybersecurity, cloud modernization, or enterprise technology programs., * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline. OR

  • High School Diploma with 7+ years of directly relevant experience in data engineering, automation engineering, software development, or cloud engineering.
