The Shared IT Support Technician is responsible for daily network operations as well as some end-user technical support. This position is a district-level position serving all schools in the Mendon Upton Regional School District, their administrative offices, and the Superintendent's office. This position also provides part-time support for the Town of Upton, MA. A shared working schedule between the town and the school department will be shared upon hire. DUTIES Duties include, but are not limited to: --Supports the use of technology in district classrooms/offices and town offices by providing direct support to teachers, administrators, and other personnel. --Assists in the design, development, documentation, analysis, creation, implementation, testing, or modification of networks and related hardware. --Monitors usage and daily operations of the network to ensure security of data, peak performance, and appropriate access privileges. --Oversees the day-to-day operation of computer networks, including hardware/software support, training, and special projects. --Plans, designs, implements, and documents the data connectivity for local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN), and wireless network systems. --Coordinates with the Director of Technology on special projects, including network-related wiring plans, LAN/WAN hardware/software purchases, and system installation, backup, maintenance, and problem-solving. --Installs, supports, and maintains both physical and virtual network servers and appliances, and Storage

Requirements

Area Network (SAN), individual desktops, routers, switches, firewalls, access points, printers, and other network-related and/or capable devices. --Installs and/or oversees the installation and operation of workstations, including, but not limited to, desktop computers, laptop computers, and tablet devices, connected to the district network. --Supports the district's implementation of student computing devices and related software. --Supports the town's implementation of computing devices in all town departments. --Other duties, as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS To be considered qualified for this position, candidates must have the following: --A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science, or a related field, is preferred. --A minimum of at least five years of successful hands-on network/computer/server support experience in a Massachusetts K-12 school district is preferred. --Preferred certifications (any of the following): CompTIA A+ and Network +, MCSE and MCSA, ACMT, ACHD, Apple Certified Associate, HP Networking Certified Network Admin. --Working knowledge of Apple and PC operating systems, Windows Desktop/Windows Server, VMware, HP Networking Operating systems, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Aruba wireless networking (Aruba Central). --Strong understanding of Apple iOS and App management. Experience with JAMF MDM preferred. --Experience with Town and School-specific applications, including but not limited to: VADAR, IVEE ERP, IMC, Follett Library Software, Google Workspace for Education, Microsoft Office 365, and others. --Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, juggling many tasks and requests across a large user base, and to organize, prioritize, and complete a large volume of varying requests by a multitude of users. --A desire to learn new technologies and a willingness to apply problem-solving and troubleshooting methodologies, and the ability to recognize and identify trends and develop solutions to avoid recurring issues; --Ability to interact daily with users at varying technical competency levels and mentor technicians. --Be physically able to perform tasks, including safely lifting heavy equipment, boxes, and other materials. --Ability to travel in a personal vehicle between multiple sites during the day as needed. --Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent, Town Manager, or Director of Technology may find appropriate.
