Job description
The IT Operation and Service Specialist for Asset & Configuration Data Management plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, health, and reliability of our Configuration Management Database (CMDB). This position is responsible for the day-to-day management of CMDB data, acting as a bridge between the data and the IT teams that rely on it. The ideal candidate will ensure that IT Service Management (ITSM) processes are strictly followed and will empower our Product Service Lines (PSLs) to effectively manage and consume CMDB data within ServiceNow., * CMDB Maintenance (RUN Tasks): Execute daily operational (RUN) tasks to maintain, update, and audit CMDB data content, ensuring high accuracy and reliability of configuration items (CIs) and their relationships.
- Data Quality Improvement: Proactively collaborate with and support other IT teams (infrastructure, application, network, etc.) to identify data discrepancies, resolve CI conflicts, and continuously improve overall CMDB data quality.
- PSL Technical Support: Act as the primary technical point of contact for Product Service Lines (PSLs), providing hands-on support and guidance as they manage and update their specific CMDB data within the ServiceNow platform.
- Scenario Building & Consumption: Assist PSLs in designing and building practical scenarios and workflows to help them efficiently consume CMDB content for incident, problem, change, and lifecycle management.
- Process Adherence: Ensure all asset and configuration management activities align with internal governance, ITIL best practices, and organizational ITSM standards.
Requirements
- Certification: Active ITIL Certification (ITIL Foundation V3 or ITIL 4 Foundation minimum requirement).
- ITSM Expertise: Comprehensive understanding of IT Service Management (ITSM) processes, IT operations, and how Configuration Management interacts with Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
- CSDM Framework: Solid knowledge of the ServiceNow Common Service Data Model (CSDM), with a specific focus on the data model for products and services objects.
- Technical Knowledge: Hands-on experience working with ServiceNow, specifically navigating and managing data within its CMDB and Asset Management modules.
- Analytical Skills: Strong attention to detail with the ability to analyze complex data sets, identify trends, and troubleshoot data discrepancies.
- Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to translate technical data concepts to various IT teams and PSLs, acting as a supportive consultant.
Optional skills
- Previous experience with ServiceNow Discovery or Service Mapping.
- Advanced ITIL certifications or ServiceNow System Administrator (CSA) certification.
