In this position, you will create embedded software tailored for resource-limited hardware and computer vision technologies within the defense sector. Your work will support systems for missile platforms, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), drones, and decentralized sensor networks. This role bridges the gap between low-level firmware creation, overall system architecture, and practical, real-world testing. Embedded Software Engineer Main responsibilities
- Firmware & Sensors: Design, build, and support firmware that integrates camera sensors.
- Environment Setup: Construct and configure Yocto build environments.
- Image Processing: Create image processing pipelines optimized for constrained hardware.
- Hardware Debugging: Troubleshoot embedded hardware and software utilizing JTAG, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
- Architecture: Formulate and maintain the software structure across the firmware, operating system, and application layers.
- Optimization: Fine-tune system performance, minimize latency, and reduce power usage.

Requirements

Education: A degree in Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or Computer Engineering (an MSc is preferred; a BSc will be considered alongside relevant experience).

Build Systems: Proven experience with Yocto build development.

Programming: Strong proficiency in embedded C, Rust, or C++.

System Concepts: A solid understanding of real-time systems and concurrent programming.

Problem Solving: The capacity to autonomously diagnose and resolve intricate, system-level issues.

Languages: Effective communication skills in English (proficiency in Dutch is an asset).

Legal & Security: Possession of a valid EU work permit and citizenship compatible with NATO clearance standards. Nice-To-Have:

Prior experience blending hardware and software components.

Background in System-on-Chip (SoC) development.
