Job description

The Security Analyst III, under general direction, serves as a senior technical lead responsible for multiple complex enterprise information security & compliance initiatives. This position provides technical oversight for the implementation and monitoring of security controls, leads endpoint security operations across enterprise platforms, and coordinates IT risk management, compliance, and internal assessment activities.

In AgriLife IT, this role is primarily responsible for the security operations and compliance management of a large-scale endpoint environment (7000+ devices) utilizing enterprise endpoint security platforms.

Responsibilities:

Endpoint Security Operations & Management

  • Performs endpoint compliance monitoring and reporting using enterprise security tools (e.g., Ivanti, Microsoft Defender, Intune, Axonius).

  • Develops and maintains endpoint security procedures and documentation.

  • Leads endpoint compliance remediation initiatives

  • Researches and evaluates vendor security updates and endpoint technologies.

  • Provides backup support for endpoint management toolsets (e.g. Ivanti, Jamf) including troubleshooting and ticket resolution.

Risk Management & Compliance

  • Coordinates IT risk management activities using GRC platforms (e.g., OneTrust).

  • Conducts risk assessments and tracks remediation activities.

  • Monitors compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., TAC 202, TAMUS policies).

  • Identifies compliance gaps and develops remediation plans.

  • Supports internal security control assessments and reporting.

Security Operations & Incident Management

  • Reviews vulnerability scan results (e.g. Tenable) and coordinates remediation.

  • Assumes a lead role in incident response cases

  • Documents and oversees information security incident tracking processes.

Governance & Documentation

  • Develops and maintains security and compliance documentation

  • Coordinates SOP development with SMEs.

  • Maintains document repositories and version control.

Security Engineering & Automation

  • Evaluates and implements new security technologies and integrations.

  • Develops and maintains automation scripts using PowerShell, Python, WMI, and vendor APIs.

  • Supports security system lifecycle activities including installation, maintenance, and upgrades.

  • Coordinates with vendors to resolve complex issues.

Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery

  • Develops and facilitates BC/DR and Incident Response tabletop exercises.

Advisory, Reporting, and Leadership

  • Provides technical leadership and guidance to IT staff.

  • Communicates risks and remediation strategies to leadership.

  • Prepares reports for management.

  • Assists CIO/CISO with audits and strategic planning.

Other Duties

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Five (5) years of related experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of IT architecture and security frameworks.

  • Skills in scripting (PowerShell, Python).

  • Strong analytical and communication skills.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Eight (8) years of related experience.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and ticketing systems.

  • Strong technical documentation skills.

  • Preferred certifications: CISSP, CISM, SSCP, CEH, Security+.

Benefits & conditions

Commensurate, Salary: Pay Grade 71. Compensation for this position is commensurate based on the selected candidate's qualifications.
