Platform Patch Engineer

Are you a Platform Patch Engineer with strong automation skills across infrastructure, middleware, and cloud platforms? We're partnering with a major organisation in Belgium to secure an experienced patch management specialist for a contract engagement.

The Role

You'll own the end-to-end patch management lifecycle across a complex, multi-platform banking environment, spanning Windows Server, Linux, middleware, databases, and cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud). This isn't just ticket-based patching: you'll be building automation frameworks in PowerShell, managing GitHub repositories and GitHub Actions workflows, and acting as technical liaison between infrastructure, security, and platform teams.

What You'll Be Doing

• Planning, testing, scheduling, and deploying OS, middleware, database, and application patches
• Coordinating standard and emergency security patch windows across a regulated banking environment
• Developing PowerShell automation for patch deployment and platform health checks
• Managing source control, pull requests, and release processes via GitHub
• Supporting patching across Windows Server 2019/2025, Linux, and JBoss middleware
• Working across database platforms including SQL Server, Azure SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB
• Contributing to compliance, audit, and security reporting via Microsoft Sentinel and Dynatrace

• Proven experience in patch management across enterprise infrastructure
• Strong PowerShell scripting and automation-first mindset
• Hands-on GitHub / GitHub Actions / CI/CD pipeline experience
• Solid background in Windows Server and Linux administration
• Exposure to network infrastructure (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs)
• Cloud platform experience: Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud
• Database patching knowledge across SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB
• Comfortable working in a regulated, security-conscious financial services environment
• Available for contract engagement - freelancers/zelfstandigen/indépendants welcome to apply
