Job description
As a Data Analyst/Data Scientist, you will work on mapping supply chains for raw materials and technologies, as well as analyzing production, import, and export figures. You will generate new insights and translate them into reports and advice. You will work on challenging projects in the fields of strategic autonomy, economic security, and security of supply for the Netherlands and Europe. You will ask the right questions about the Netherlands' dependency on supply chains and technology.
If you find that existing methods are insufficient to answer these questions, you will take the initiative to address this yourself:

Requirements
You are looking to take your first career step and bring a highly developed abstract and analytical thinking ability. You have a strong interest in generating insights from data and in the role of supply chains and technology in the Netherlands' strategic autonomy. You have an affinity for quantitative analysis. You can apply a broad range of methods to support clients, while also confidently taking the lead in innovating and introducing us to new models and technological possibilities (both current and future). You are always interested in new developments, which you will create and apply yourself. Above all, you are strongly motivated to make an impact together with others!, * A completed university degree in a STEM or social science field (e.g., Data Science, Mathematics, or Econometrics).
- Interest in economic analysis; experience in this area is a plus.
- Experience in data analysis, network analysis, building reproducible data pipelines, visualization, and modeling in Python and/or R.
- Experience in Python with dashboarding, web scraping, machine learning, or natural language processing (e.g., Retrieval Augmented Generation, Hugging Face) is a plus.
- Knowledge of Git (version control), or willingness to learn.
- Organizational sensitivity, excellent communication and listening skills, including structured writing and presenting in English and Dutch (C1 level).

The preliminary interview takes place on the 11 August. The second interview round has been scheduled for the 28 August. In a final meeting we will discuss the terms of employment and your tailored benefits package. We aim to finalize the entire process within four weeks.
The selection process may include an online assessment and a reference check. A certificate of Conduct (VOG) is required before starting a new job at TNO.
