Job description
- Join us as a Backend Engineer (Java) on a 6-month contract basis, inside IR35, starting as soon as possible
- Work fully remotely within the UK, with occasional travel to the North of England being advantageous
- Help us deliver exceptional products and services through technology
- Work closely with organisations to accelerate value delivery and create outstanding customer experiences

Requirements
- Strong proficiency in Java and object-oriented programming principles
- Experience with Spring Boot or similar Java frameworks
- Proven experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs
- Hands-on experience with microservices architecture
- Solid understanding of database schema design, SQL, and query optimization
- Experience with performance tuning and scalability best practices
- Knowledge of caching strategies such as Redis and in-memory caching
- Experience integrating with third-party and legacy systems
- Strong understanding of data integrity and security principles
- Experience with automated testing, including unit, integration, and API testing
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git
- Experience with cloud platforms, especially AWS
- Experience participating in code reviews and collaborative development workflows
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with message brokers such as Kafka and RabbitMQ
- Exposure to event-driven architecture
- Experience contributing to system architecture and design decisions
- Understanding of DevOps practices
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
