Job description

As Senior Engineer in Test, you will align test infrastructure and architecture with the wider engineering strategy, taking ownership of strategic test frameworks and leading their design and development. Ideally, you will bring a strong background testing enterprise .NET applications, alongside broader experience across the wider engineering estate. You will work closely with Development Architects, Product Architects, Engineering and Release Engineering teams, influencing how testability is built in at every stage of the SDLC. This is a role for someone who wants senior-level scope, not just execution... someone comfortable setting direction, challenging convention and mentoring engineering teams towards better standards., * Lead technical direction across test frameworks, test automation and test methodologies

  • Build and maintain automated test solutions, adopting and innovating with progressive testing and environment tooling
  • Design test automation approaches and test cases, and own test metrics, monitoring and reporting
  • Influence how testability is built into every phase of the SDLC, with particular focus on design and development
  • Engage Development Architects, Product Architects, Engineering and Release Engineering teams to improve test coverage without slowing delivery
  • Develop test solutions spanning static and dynamic analysis, unit, component, acceptance, integration and non-functional testing
  • Identify tooling and process improvements, and champion best practice standards across engineering teams

Requirements

  • BSc or MSc in Computer Science (or related field), or equivalent work experience
  • Comprehensive understanding of testing methodologies and test techniques
  • Proven track record designing and delivering robust, scalable test framework solutions
  • Extensive experience with design patterns, refactoring and OO design, with a track record as a software development thought leader
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve ambiguity and set clear direction independently

Desirable / Nice to Have:

  • Background testing enterprise .NET applications at scale
  • Experience working across multiple programming languages within a Continuous Delivery environment

Benefits & conditions

  • Contract role, up to £550 per day, outside IR35
  • 90% remote, with occasional travel to Northern Ireland required
  • Senior-level ownership of strategic test frameworks, ideally backed by enterprise .NET testing experience
  • Genuine influence over test strategy and testability from design through to delivery, * Day rate up to £550, outside IR35
  • 90% remote working, with only occasional travel into Northern Ireland
  • Senior-level scope... real ownership of strategic test frameworks, not just delivery against someone else's plan
  • Work across a genuinely diverse, multi-language engineering estate within a mature Continuous Delivery setup
  • Direct influence with Development Architects, Product Architects and senior Engineering stakeholders
  • A development centre that invests in modern testing tooling and best practice, not legacy process
