Job description

  • We support the design, delivery, and ongoing operation of infrastructure services.
  • We provide technical input throughout the project lifecycle, from RFP through to BAU.
  • We act as a point of escalation for complex infrastructure issues.
  • We maintain and improve disaster recovery and high-availability solutions.
  • We create and maintain technical documentation, test plans, and recovery procedures.
  • We proactively share knowledge and help move repeatable tasks to the Service Desk.
  • We keep up to date with infrastructure and security trends and contribute to continual service improvement.
  • We participate in out-of-hours support and occasional travel to other offices or client sites.

We are a legal organisation undergoing a technology transformation journey, consolidating and modernising our infrastructure to support our wider IT and business strategy. Our infrastructure team is responsible for the delivery, stability, and evolution of our infrastructure and core applications across the UK and internationally. This is a hybrid role based in Liverpool or Manchester, with two days on site, and offers a salary of £40K.

Requirements

  • We require hands-on experience with VMware management and maintenance.
  • We require experience with Microsoft Azure, including Entra ID and application configuration.
  • We require strong knowledge of Windows Server 2016, 2019, and 2022.
  • We require experience with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Sites & Services.
  • We require understanding of disaster recovery and high availability concepts.
  • We require networking fundamentals, including routing and troubleshooting; basic switching experience is desirable.
  • We require experience with monitoring tools such as SolarWinds and SNMP.
  • We require strong troubleshooting skills and a structured approach to workload management.
  • We would value Azure certifications such as AZ-900, AZ-104, or AZ-700.
  • We would value experience with Office 365, including Exchange Online, Teams, and Intune.
  • We would value experience with Azure VMs, SSO, MFA, and SAML.
  • We would value exposure to Hyper-V, FortiGate firewalls, and Mimecast.
  • We would value experience with telephony, SIP, and Remote Desktop Services.
  • We would value knowledge of datacentre technologies such as power, cooling, and efficiency.
  • We would value ITIL Foundation knowledge and an interest in cyber or information security.
  • We would value experience with legal systems such as iManage, Aderant, and BigHand.
