Job description

We are seeking a Mobile Technology & GPS Systems Specialist to support and manage the mobile technology platforms that power our transportation operations across multiple states. This role is responsible for deploying, supporting, and maintaining mobile devices, GPS tracking technology, and related applications used by transportation providers.

The ideal candidate has experience with mobile device management, cellular technologies, GPS/location-based services, technical training, and end-user support. This position works closely with internal teams, transportation providers, and technology vendors to ensure reliable system performance, data integrity, and compliance with contractual requirements.

This position requires occasional travel and flexibility to provide after-hours support when needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deploy, configure, and support Android and iOS mobile devices.
  • Provide technical support to internal users and transportation providers.
  • Coordinate technology implementations for new programs and provider onboarding.
  • Deliver training to providers and internal staff on mobile applications and GPS technology.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot hardware, software, connectivity, and GPS-related issues.
  • Manage mobile device inventory, tracking, upgrades, replacements, and software updates.
  • Coordinate with cellular carriers, vendors, and technology partners.
  • Assist with purchasing, inventory management, and technology asset reporting.
  • Develop user guides, training materials, and technical documentation.
  • Generate operational and performance reports.
  • Recommend and implement technology improvements to increase efficiency and reliability.
  • Promote proper care and responsible use of company-issued technology.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, security standards, and client contract requirements.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and provide occasional evening or weekend support as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience supporting mobile devices, GPS tracking systems, or field technology solutions.
  • Working knowledge of Android and iOS operating systems.
  • Familiarity with cellular carriers, mobile device activation, and wireless technologies.
  • Experience with Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms is preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting transportation, logistics, healthcare, or field service organizations.
  • Experience with GPS fleet tracking or location-based technologies.
  • Experience training end users and developing technical documentation.
