Reporting to the Manager of IT Campus Support, the Campus Technician is responsible for all desktop support functions within the Campus. The position provides support to all employees, Instructors, and students on campus for the following operating system, applications, network access, file-level access, printing, connectivity, user status changes, and their phone setup. The position is also responsible for executing the maintenance functions on the student lab images; published applications for staff access. The Campus technician will perform monitoring functions to ensure all networks and systems are reporting a healthy status. The Technician is responsible for first level escalation to the Network or System Engineers to ensure the issue is being addressed and a resolution is reached. The Campus Technician is also responsible for all support functions related to the intranet environment (SharePoint).
Primary/Essential Duties and Responsibilities · Desktop support functions at the Campus (set up new user workstations, answer user Help desk tickets, set up new user phones, Email, printers, and transcript accounts change functions for all users as needed
· Provide technical support and training to users on the access and use of Company resources.
· RingCentral phone, Desktop or Mobile Application, Helpdesk submissions, outlook email, access to email on personal cell for authorized users
· Verify that campus users have access and are connected to copiers\scanners and printers.
· Check the campus copiers, scanners, and printers daily for paper, toner/Ink and network connectivity
· Take and submit the meter count from the copiers. Check classroom projector functionality and train users on the use of the projector, copiers, scanners, and printers
· Conduct maintenance functions on all student lab images and WYSE thin client (V.D.I) used at the campus
· Monitor Network and system health on campus to ensure their availability and uptime
· Monitor the campus Wi-Fi connection to ensure that it is working for staff, faculty and staff
· Create new student accounts and provide information to the Education Department
· Verify that the students can log in to the workstations, Chrome books, and Android tablets
· Escalate issues that cannot be resolved at the campus level to the Network or System Engineers
· Setup and troubleshooting of classroom projectors
· Perform maintenance functions on all applications accessed by users via Teams screen sharing or Quick Assist
· Unlock accounts and reset user passwords
· Maintain campus data center, cabling, UPS maintenance, and server up-time
· Work with the Network & System Engineers on all assignments required at the campus
· Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
· Maintain proper decorum when interacting with staff, faculty, students, and outside vendors
· Demonstrate good technical, problem-solving, communication and documentation skills.
· Self-starter, flexible, dependable, and capable of multi-tasking and of quickly learning new products and technologies
· Advanced understanding of the Windows 10/11 desktop operating system
· Experience in desktop support functions (printing, users access, application support, etc)
· Basic understanding of cable termination techniques, procedures, equipment and troubleshooting techniques including 66 & 110 blocks, MDF & IDF cabling, Fiber Optics cabling
· Basic understanding of telecommunication & analog phone punch down systems
· Basic understanding of Network administration functions
· Basic understanding of Phone system administration functions
· Basic understanding of the monitoring and escalation process
· Basic understanding of Uninterruptable Power Systems (UPS)
· Hands-on experience with Windows 10 Operating system, MS-Office, and O365
· Ability to explain technical terms and processes in layman's terms to end users
· Well versed in time management and inventory control
