Job description
As an IT Field Technician, you will be responsible for providing on-site technical support and services to our clients. You will troubleshoot hardware and software issues, perform installations, and ensure the smooth operation of IT systems. Our ideal candidate is a problem-solver with excellent communication skills and a strong background in networking concepts., * Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software systems, including computers, printers, routers, IP cameras, and access control systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues on-site, ensuring minimal disruption to client operations.
- Installation of Core Networking hardware, such as firewalls, switches, and other rack accessories
- Understanding network concepts such as static routes, vlans, network layers, etc.
- Establishing LAN, WAN, Wireless, and Radio P2P connectivity.
- Provide technical support and assistance to clients via phone, email, and in-person.
- Perform regular maintenance and updates on IT systems, including security systems, to ensure optimal performance.
- Maintain accurate records of all service requests, incidents, and resolutions in the ticketing system.
- Review of Documentation associated with tasks or projects to ensure every detail is captured accurately for future reference.
- Documenting site visits with site photos and other notable changes between site visits.
- Document network configurations, changes, and procedures for future reference.
- Educate & Train clients on deployed systems, security systems, and best practices.
- Collaborate with the internal IT team to escalate and resolve complex issues.
- Stay updated with the latest networking technologies and best practices to ensure compliance with industry standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience in IP networking with a solid understanding of network protocols.
- Familiarity with routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, or EIGRP is highly desirable.
- Experience with shell scripting or PowerShell scripting for automation tasks is preferred.
- Certifications such as CCNA or equivalent are a plus but not mandatory.
- Strong understanding of structured cabling and physical network infrastructure, including Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6A, single-mode and multimode fiber, patch panels, transceivers, and cable management best practices.
- Ability to install, identify, document, test, and troubleshoot copper and fiber cabling using industry-standard testing equipment while maintaining accurate infrastructure documentation.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues effectively.
- Excellent communication skills to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- CompTIA Network+ is required within 3 months of starting work., * Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds up stairs.
- Ability to travel within the lower 48 states up to 20% of the time.
- Ability to work in various environments, including office settings, client sites, and data centers.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
