This Geospatial (GIS) Analyst II role supports municipal and county clients by delivering high-quality GIS data management, mapping, database administration, and geospatial application support. You will combine traditional GIS responsibilities with the opportunity to grow into administering a proprietary, platform-based data management system. Working under general guidance, you will support a wide range of local government, utilities, and infrastructure projects while mentoring junior staff and contributing technical leadership in geospatial technologies., * Create, edit, maintain, and perform QA/QC on GIS datasets using ArcGIS Pro and open-source GIS tools.
- Support municipal and county clients with day-to-day GIS operations, mapping, and data management activities.
- Manage and maintain geodatabases, large datasets, and GIS data publishing workflows.
- Work with GeoServer, databases, and web-based GIS applications to support data access and visualization.
- Assist with GPS and survey-related activities, including field data collection and data integration as needed.
- Develop maps, reports, and data products to support infrastructure, utilities, and local government projects.
- Provide technical support, training, and guidance to clients and internal users on GIS tools and workflows.
- Learn and support the administration of a proprietary Bright Spot Platform for GIS-based data management.
- Coordinate with project managers, developers, and clients to solve GIS and data management challenges.
- Digitize data from various sources, including satellite imagery, aerial photography, hardcopy maps, and CAD files.
- Work with coordinate projections to align imagery, CAD, and GIS data accurately.
- Plan, capture, and post-process GPS data to meet project accuracy and standards requirements.
- Develop geospatial databases, including designing schemas and implementing data standards.
- Acquire geospatial data from clearinghouses and agencies such as USGS and FEMA, as well as commercial sources.
- Plan, develop, document, and analyze geospatial databases to support planning, infrastructure, and operations.
- Create high-quality cartographic products and maintain cartographic standards, templates, and symbology.
- Provide detailed written documentation, including metadata, instructions, standards, and specifications in a clear, concise, and well-structured manner.
- Mentor junior personnel and provide technical leadership in the use and application of geospatial technologies.
- Lead a small team of 2-3 analysts and technicians when needed, ensuring quality and timely delivery of GIS products.
- Represent the organization at user group meetings, professional functions, and on-site client engagements.
- Coordinate with application developers to determine optimal configurations and solutions for GIS applications and data services.
- Work independently when required, managing tasks and priorities to meet project goals.
- Participate in professional geospatial associations and activities to stay current with industry trends and best practices.
- Work within project and task budgets and schedules, ensuring deliverables meet quality and timeline expectations.
- Understand and follow company quality management policies and procedures in all GIS work products., You will work in a collaborative, professional team environment focused on supporting municipal, county, and infrastructure clients. The role involves daily use of ArcGIS Pro, QGIS or other open-source GIS tools, GeoServer, and spatial databases such as PostGIS and SQL Server. You will work with a mix of vector and raster datasets, CAD files, and imagery, and will apply advanced cartographic and geodatabase techniques. The position includes a combination of office-based analysis and occasional local travel for GPS, survey support, and field data collection; there are no extended deployments, and travel is limited to local needs. You will operate under general guidance from project leadership while having the autonomy to manage tasks and, at times, lead a small team. - At least 2 years of GIS experience, including internships or co-op roles.
- Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro, including GIS data editing and map production.
- Experience managing geodatabases, including domains, subtypes, feature datasets, and feature classes.
- Advanced knowledge of GIS data and network topology and the ability to create and execute complex geospatial tasks.
- Strong experience with Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and applicable GIS standards such as SDSFIE.
- Exposure to databases, large datasets, and GIS data management workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to create map layouts using advanced cartographic techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy and quality control.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce clear documentation and metadata.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and solve problems with minimal supervision.
- Ability to lead small teams and mentor junior personnel in geospatial technologies.
- Experience with Esri-based GIS environments and tools.
- Experience working with CAD data in a GIS context.
- Familiarity with GPS data collection, global positioning concepts, and related standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with QGIS or other open-source GIS tools.
- Experience with GeoServer, PostGIS, SQL Server, or similar spatial database technologies.
- Background in municipal or county government, utilities, or infrastructure-related GIS projects.
- Surveying, GPS, or field data collection experience, including planning and post-processing field data.
- Experience supporting GIS applications or serving as a platform or application administrator.
- Understanding of GIS data publishing workflows and web mapping applications.
- Experience acquiring and integrating data from sources such as USGS, FEMA, and commercial providers.
- Experience planning, developing, documenting, and analyzing geospatial databases to meet project standards.
- Participation in professional geospatial associations or user groups.

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $34.00/hr.
