Job description

The Systems & VoIP Engineer designs, implements, maintains, and supports SecureVision's enterprise network, systems, and voice infrastructure across residential, hospitality, commercial, and MDU properties throughout the Alabama and Florida Gulf Coast. With advanced knowledge of networking, Linux systems administration, virtualization, fiber access technologies, and SIP-based voice platforms, the Systems & VoIP Engineer serves as a technical resource for infrastructure planning, deployment, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement while ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of critical business systems., * Voice & Unified Communications:

  • Configure, maintain, and support hosted and on-premise VoIP and unified communications platforms.
  • Troubleshoot SIP-based voice services, including trunking, dial plans, call routing, codec negotiation, NAT traversal, registration failures, and RTP-related issues.
  • Coordinate customer voice provisioning, platform migrations, DID management, number porting, and carrier communications.
  • Support voice deployments across hospitality, MDU, commercial, and enterprise environments.
  • Maintain E911 compliance and endpoint provisioning standards.
  • Network Engineering & Operations:
  • Design, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise routing and switching infrastructure across multiple locations.
  • Configure and administer VLANs, routing, switching, STP/RSTP, LACP, QoS, and inter-site connectivity.
  • Plan, implement, and maintain network redundancy for fiber transport and carrier connectivity.
  • Administer firewall platforms and implement network security policies and best practices.
  • Diagnose and resolve network performance issues, including latency, packet loss, bandwidth utilization, and spanning-tree events.

Fiber & Access Infrastructure:

  • Deploy, configure, and maintain GPON/EPON OLT infrastructure supporting SecureVision's fiber access network.
  • Support FTTH and FTTN deployments while coordinating carrier circuit installations and handoffs.
  • Maintain accurate network topology documentation, equipment inventories, and configuration standards.
  • Wireless Infrastructure:
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain Point-to-Point (PtP) and Point-to-Multipoint (PtMP) wireless backhaul systems.
  • Optimize wireless network performance, capacity, and reliability across distributed service locations.
  • Monitor wireless infrastructure and proactively address service-impacting issues.
  • Systems Administration & Virtualization:
  • Administer Linux-based servers, virtualized infrastructure, and enterprise storage platforms supporting business operations.
  • Configure and maintain virtualization environments, including clustering, high availability, storage replication, and disaster recovery capabilities.
  • Install, maintain, and upgrade physical server hardware, firmware, storage systems, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Administer core infrastructure services including DNS, DHCP, NTP, authentication, and directory services.
  • Monitoring, Documentation & Continuous Improvement:
  • Deploy and maintain network monitoring, alerting, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Maintain network diagrams, IP address management (IPAM), operational documentation, and technical standards.
  • Participate in change management, incident response, root-cause analysis, and infrastructure improvement initiatives.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by their supervisor., * Primarily office-based with travel to customer properties and infrastructure sites throughout the Alabama and Florida Gulf Coast.
  • Occasionally lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Install, inspect, and maintain equipment located in MDF/IDF rooms, telecommunications closets, equipment racks, rooftops, and outdoor facilities.
  • Occasionally climb ladders and work in confined spaces while installing or servicing telecommunications equipment.
  • Participate in scheduled maintenance windows, after-hours implementations, and on-call rotations as required.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory motor vehicle record required.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
  • This is an exempt position and is expected to work the hours necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the role.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of enterprise routing, switching, TCP/IP networking, VLANs, QoS, routing protocols, STP/RSTP, and network troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency administering Linux operating systems and enterprise server environments.
  • Strong understanding of SIP, RTP, VoIP, PBX systems, and unified communications technologies.
  • Experience configuring and supporting GPON/EPON fiber access infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of enterprise virtualization platforms, storage systems, and high-availability architectures.
  • Experience deploying and supporting Point-to-Point and Point-to-Multipoint wireless networking solutions.
  • Familiarity with enterprise firewall administration, network security principles, and infrastructure hardening.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical issues, prioritize competing demands, and implement effective solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Ability to maintain detailed technical documentation and communicate infrastructure changes effectively., * Experience working with enterprise networking, virtualization, Linux administration, VoIP platforms, and related infrastructure technologies is strongly preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education, military training, industry certifications, and relevant work experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience supporting enterprise networking, systems administration, VoIP, or telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Experience in ISP, telecommunications, managed service provider, hospitality, or multi-site enterprise environments preferred.
  • Industry certifications such as Cisco, Juniper, MikroTik, CompTIA, VMware, Linux, or similar technical certifications are preferred.
