Job description
The City of Springfield is seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator to join our Information Systems Department. This role is responsible for designing, installing, monitoring, maintaining, patching, cloning, and performance-tuning production databases, including the City's Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) environment, which serves as our HRMS and Financial system.
Our EBS environment leverages Oracle databases, WebLogic, and concurrent managers hosted on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). This position ensures high levels of data availability, reliability, performance, and security across all related systems.
The Senior Database Administrator also develops, implements, and oversees database policies and procedures that safeguard system integrity, ensure availability, and support the operational needs of the organization.
Information Systems is a department dedicated to supporting City departments, employees and facilities with technical solutions and expertise. To that end, the team is comprised of our Help Desk Support, Enterprise Software, Geographical Information Systems, Network and Telecommunications teams.

Requirements
- Requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems or related discipline, * At least three years of experience in computer databases;
- Education, training, and/or work experience must have included experience in Relational SQL Databases, database tuning, troubleshooting and strong technical documentation;
- Equivalent work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
PREFERRED
- Linux/Unix server administration experience is also preferred.
Licensing/Certification
- Oracle Database Administration, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Microsoft MCSA SQL Server are preferred.
Database Administrator: Experience, Education, and Training
- Typically requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems or a related discipline;
AND
- At least one year of experience in computer databases;
- Education, training, and/or work experience must have included experience in Relational SQL Databases;
- Equivalent work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
