Job description

The Senior Development Manager is an experienced, relationship-driven fundraising leader responsible for supporting the advancement of In Her Presence's philanthropic growth and long-term financial sustainability.

At the direction of the Executive Director, this position leads fundraising initiatives, donor engagement, grant development, corporate partnerships, annual giving, stewardship, communications, and earned revenue opportunities.

This is a working leadership position, combining strategic planning support with hands-on fundraising. The Senior Development Manager actively cultivates donors, writes grants, helps develop fundraising strategies, and collaborates with staff to strengthen IHP's fundraising capacity and community impact.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising Strategy Support

Partner with the Executive Director and senior leadership to:

  • Develop and implement the annual fundraising strategy.
  • Develop annual fundraising goals and monitor progress.
  • Diversify revenue through foundations, corporations, individuals, and earned revenue.
  • Prepare fundraising dashboards and reports for leadership and the Board.
  • Monitor fundraising performance and recommend strategic improvements.

Major Donors & Individual Giving

  • Build, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of individual donors.
  • Identify strategies to grow major gifts.
  • Coordinate annual giving campaigns.
  • Increase donor retention and long-term engagement.
  • Schedule and conduct donor meetings.
  • Prepare donor proposals and stewardship reports.

Grants & Foundation Relations

Working alongside IHP's grant writing team:

  • Provide leadership for the grant development process.
  • Write high-priority grant proposals.
  • Review and strengthen grant narratives.
  • Identify new grant opportunities.
  • Develop grant calendars.
  • Ensure timely submission of proposals and reports.
  • Maintain relationships with foundation representatives.

Corporate Partnerships

  • Build relationships with corporate partners.
  • Expand sponsorship opportunities.
  • Strengthen employer partnerships.
  • Develop multi-year corporate giving opportunities.
  • Support fee-for-service partnerships.

CRM Management

Manage the organization's CRM system, including:

Donor Management

  • Maintain donor records.
  • Record gifts and giving history.
  • Monitor donor retention.
  • Update donor information.

Prospect Management

  • Track donor cultivation.
  • Record meetings.
  • Schedule follow-up activities.
  • Manage donor pipeline.

Grant Management

  • Track proposals.
  • Monitor deadlines.
  • Maintain grant documentation.
  • Track reporting requirements.

Stewardship

  • Track acknowledgments.
  • Record donor interactions.
  • Schedule stewardship activities.

Reporting

  • Generate reports including:
  • Monthly fundraising results.
  • Donor pipeline.
  • Grant status.
  • Annual giving.
  • Board development reports.

Communications

Collaborate with communications team member(s) to support fundraising communications by:

  • Writing donor impact stories.
  • Reviewing newsletters.
  • Developing fundraising campaigns.
  • Providing social media content related to fundraising.
  • Supporting annual reports.
  • Assisting with donor communications.

In the absence of a communications team member, this role will manage the above with support from the IHP team as available.

Events

At the direction of senior leadership, carry out fundraising event strategy by:

  • Developing sponsorship opportunities.
  • Coordinating donor cultivation events.
  • Supporting fundraising events.
  • Evaluating event outcomes.
  • Managing event follow-up.

Business Development

Collaborate with the Executive Director to expand earned revenue opportunities through:

  • Cross-Cultural Conversations

Organizational Leadership

  • Participate in organizational planning.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Programs.
  • Support organizational sustainability.
  • Represent IHP with donors, partners, and community organizations.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive culture., This position begins with a three (3)-month introductory period. During this time, the Senior Development Manager will become familiar with In Her Presence's mission, programs, fundraising systems, partners, and organizational culture while demonstrating the ability to successfully carry out the responsibilities of the position.
  • By the end of the first 90 days, the successful candidate will have:
  • Built strong working relationships with the Executive Director, staff, Board members, and key community partners.
  • Become familiar with IHP's fundraising history, current funding portfolio, CRM system, and development processes.
  • Met with a combination of 10-15 current and/or prospective donors, foundations, corporate partners, and community stakeholders, both independently and alongside the Executive Director, as appropriate.
  • Reviewed the current grant portfolio and collaborated with the grant writing team to develop a grant calendar and funding pipeline.
  • Personally written or significantly contributed to at least two competitive grant proposals while supporting additional proposals with the grant writing team.
  • Drafted a 12-month fundraising and donor engagement plan based on goals established with the Executive Director, that includes strategies, timelines, and annual campaign recommendations.
  • Identified 3-5 new funding opportunities, including major donors, foundations, corporate partnerships, or earned revenue initiatives.
  • Evaluate and propose a strategy to strengthen donor stewardship practices and CRM data management.
  • Presented initial observations, recommendations, and priorities for strengthening IHP's fundraising capacity during the first year.

Benefits & conditions

This role includes a 90-day introductory period during which the company will evaluate the successful candidate's ability and adaptation to the organization. Details about success during this period are outlined below.

The introductory period will be compensated at the lower end of our pay range while we evaluate ability. Once the successful candidate has demonstrated ability and success, pay will be increased to the amount agreed upon in the interview and offer process. An employee who demonstrates excellence in their first 90 days may have pay retroactively updated to the higher rate.

Pay for this position, including the introductory period, starts at $70,000.00 per year based on education and experience. The salary includes a stipend of $6,000.00 per year to help offset the cost of health insurance plans purchased outside of the organization. The stipend is factored into the total compensation for the role., * In Her Presence offers a stipend designed to offset the cost of health insurance premiums to all full-time employees.
