Job description

Teaching non-traditional students and traditional dual-credit high school students in the field of automation, instrumentation, controls, and mechatronics., * Implement approved program curriculum and instructional materials and participate in curriculum review and continuous improvement.

Maintain the assigned hands -on-trainers and keep them in working order and clean.

Ensure that students have access to tools needed to complete course work and that the tools are kept clean and in proper working condition.

Keep the equipment for each assigned trainer in their respective storage boxes.

Maintain an inventory of the storage boxes and report any missing tools or materials to the Lead Instructor or Director.

Maintain a running inventory of all consumables and notify the Lead Instructor or director aware of items that need to be replaced.

Must know shop safety and be aware of safety concerns and address these safety issues with the students.

Serve as student advisor, including academic advising and providing support to assist in the achievement of learning and career goals.

Handle all classroom/lab management, including maintaining accurate student attendance and grade reports, as well as maintaining a clean and organized environment with an emphasis on safety.

Establish and maintain positive, professional, and collaborative relationships with internal and external partners including co-workers, employers, area high schools, and professional organizations.

Seek opportunities to promote NMJC and the Automation & Industrial Systems Program.

Maintain professional/technical knowledge and skills by staying current with techniques, certifications, licensing, and instructional technology and delivery methods.

May serve on various campus committees as assigned.

Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Nothing contained herein shall limit the President in assigning the employee to any of the various college activities for which he/she would be qualified in order to meet the needs of New Mexico Junior College.
Requirements
- Associate Degree preferred or three (3) years of related teaching and/or industry experience., * Knowledge of College and department policies and procedures.
- Teaching experience preferred. Electrical and mechanical knowledge is a must, the ability to be flexible and get along with others.
- Must have good public relations skills, ability to handle multi-task situation and ability to work in a fast- paced environment daily.
- Must have a broad knowledge of automation, instrumentation, controls, as well as industry training needs.
- Must have better than average working knowledge of hand and power tools.
- Skillset to trouble shoot and to fix and repair the equipment and trainers.
- Know and use safe working habits.
- Needs an above average knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Computer skills are a must.
