Job description
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Data Center Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and supporting data center operations by installing, troubleshooting, and repairing critical network and electrical systems. Your expertise will ensure the seamless functioning of our data infrastructure, contributing to optimal performance and reliability., * Install, configure, and maintain network equipment such as Cisco routers, Juniper devices, Ethernet switches, and VoIP systems.
- Perform fiber splicing, cable management (Cat5, Cat6), and network wiring in accordance with schematics and industry standards.
- Conduct diagnostic testing using specialized tools like ohmmeters, RF testers, and other equipment repair devices to identify issues quickly.
- Support low voltage electrical systems including AC/DC power supplies, electrical wiring, and NEC compliance to ensure safe operations.
- Execute routine preventive maintenance tasks on computer hardware, telecommunication systems, and data center infrastructure.
- Assist in network installation projects involving LAN setup, fiber optic cabling, and telephony systems such as Avaya.
- Use hand tools and power tools effectively for equipment repair or installation tasks while adhering to safety protocols.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a service technician or in a similar data center or telecommunications environment.
- Strong knowledge of computer networking concepts including Ethernet, LAN/WAN architecture, Schematics reading, and network wiring.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco routers, Juniper equipment, Avaya telephony systems, and VoIP solutions.
- Familiarity with fiber splicing techniques and the use of diagnostic tools like ohmmeters and RF testers.
- Electrical experience with AC/DC systems, low voltage wiring, NEC standards compliance, and electrical safety practices.
- Ability to troubleshoot hardware issues related to computer hardware components and telecommunication equipment efficiently.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
