BH Zion, LLC is seeking an experienced Senior User Experience (UX) / Business Analyst to support the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) on two high-profile modernization initiatives that will transform how Maryland delivers financial aid and workforce service programs. This role combines user experience, business analysis, and human-centered design to create intuitive digital experiences while ensuring business and technical requirements are clearly defined. You'll work alongside product managers, developers, stakeholders, and end users to deliver modern, cloud-based solutions that improve services for hundreds of thousands of Maryland residents. - Work Arrangement: Primarily on-site with limited telework as approved. Travel to other Maryland offices may be required., As the Senior UX / Business Analyst, you will:
- Lead user research, stakeholder interviews, workshops, and discovery sessions.
- Gather, analyze, and document business, functional, and non-functional requirements.
- Create user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and backlog items.
- Design user journeys, wireframes, prototypes, and other UX deliverables.
- Conduct usability testing and recommend improvements based on research findings.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, developers, QA teams, and business stakeholders throughout the Agile development lifecycle.
- Analyze existing business processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and improve the user experience.
- Support accessibility standards and human-centered design best practices.
- Assist with testing activities, user acceptance testing (UAT), documentation, and implementation.
- Prepare presentations, reports, and project documentation for technical and executive audiences.
Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- At least 8 years of experience in User Experience (UX), service design, product design, user research, business analysis, or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years supporting complex enterprise or cloud-based applications.
- Experience conducting user research, usability testing, stakeholder interviews, and facilitated workshops.
- Experience gathering and documenting business requirements, functional requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Experience creating wireframes, prototypes, user flows, and other UX artifacts.
- Strong understanding of Agile software development methodologies.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards, information architecture, and human-centered design principles.
- Excellent analytical, communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
- Experience working throughout the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
