Job description
We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to help evolve the next generation of Identity Services powering Adobe's cloud platform. Reliability, performance, and operational depth are not aspirations on this team, they are the contract we hold with the rest of the company.
We operate as unified engineers. Each member of the team owns the full lifecycle of the work they take on: writing the code, testing it, shipping it to production, monitoring it once it is live, and participating in the on-call rotation that keeps the service healthy, which is what makes the role technically demanding and what makes the impact direct.
We are also increasingly using AI tools to accelerate how we build, investigate, and operate these systems. We need a colleague who can pair that leverage with strong engineering judgment: someone who goes deep into the stack to understand why a system behaves the way it does, identifies the root causes of performance degradations before they turn into incidents, and continuously raises the bar on overall system health.
What You'll Do
- Own features end to end, from design and implementation through testing, deployment, and ongoing operation in production
- Investigate performance and availability across all layers of an n-tier application stack, identifying bottlenecks, latency outliers, and sources of degradation before they reach customers
- Develop high-performance, reliable, and maintainable code, whether implementing architectural improvements, adding features, writing tests, or fixing bugs
- Drive system health initiatives by analysing telemetry, profiling services under realistic load, and proposing improvements grounded in data
- Identify opportunities to improve resiliency at any layer of the stack by defining and adopting best practices, automating tests, injecting failure, and finding vulnerabilities before our customers do
- Apply AI-assisted tooling to accelerate code analysis, incident investigation, and operational workflows, while exercising critical judgment over the results
- Participate in the team's on-call rotation, contributing to incident response and to the follow-up work that prevents recurrence
Requirements
- At least 4 years of practical experience developing and operating production services
- Strong experience developing applications in Java or Kotlin
- Proven track record designing and implementing online services that operate at scale
- Deep knowledge of system scalability, availability, and performance, with hands-on experience diagnosing real production issues
- Strong full-stack troubleshooting skills, including networking, operating systems (Linux), and DNS, with the ability to debug cloud-based services end to end
- Experience with the AWS stack, particularly networking (VPCs, security groups), compute (EC2), load balancing (ALB, Application Gateway), CDN (CloudFront), and DNS (Route53)
- Proficiency using observability tools such as Splunk, New Relic, Prometheus, and Grafana to investigate performance regressions and operational anomalies
- Solid grasp of CI/CD methodologies and modern delivery practices
- Comfort working with AI-assisted development and analysis tools as part of daily engineering practice
