  • Define and execute technology strategy aligned with business objectives.
  • Lead transformation initiatives focused on cloud-native architecture, automation, and engineering excellence.

Engineering & Architecture

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable full-stack applications and APIs.
  • Build modern web applications using React or Angular.
  • Manage AWS infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines (CloudFormation, Lambda, ECS, S3, RDS, etc.).
  • Drive automation and engineering best practices to improve delivery and operational efficiency.

Delivery & Operations

  • Own production environments, release governance, and application reliability.
  • Partner with business and product teams to translate investment requirements into technical solutions.

Stakeholder & Vendor Management

  • Collaborate with global business and technology stakeholders.
  • Manage relationships with strategic technology vendors such as BlackRock Aladdin and Snowflake.

Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing global engineering team.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 15+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years in a senior technical leadership role.
  • Strong full-stack development experience with JavaScript (React/Angular), Node.js, Java, .NET or Python, and SQL.
  • Hands-on AWS experience, including serverless and cloud-native services.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Terraform, or CloudFormation).
  • Strong API design, testing (Jest, Cypress, Selenium), and system integration experience.
  • Proven ability to lead distributed teams while remaining hands-on in architecture and development.

Preferred

  • Experience in Asset Management, Investment Banking, or Wealth Management.
  • Knowledge of OMS, PMS, trading platforms, risk systems, and ETF workflows.
  • Experience with Snowflake, Python, event-driven architecture, ESG, regulatory reporting, or performance attribution.

**Candidates must be in the Boston office 4 days/week - 1 day/week remote.

The base range for this contract position is $80-$110 per hour, depending on experience. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all U.S. locations. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors.

Our client is looking to bring on an experienced Senior Technology Leader in Investment Technology. This is an experienced hands-on Senior Technology Leader to join our Asset Management - Investment Technology team in Boston. This role combines technical leadership with active software engineering, requiring you to remain hands-on in architecture and development while leading a distributed team and shaping the technology strategy for our core investment platforms. You will drive the modernization of cloud-native investment platforms, partnering with stakeholders across Investments, Operations, Product, and Technology to deliver scalable, high-impact solutions supporting Portfolio Management and Trading. Experience with ETFs and multi-asset platforms is advantageous.
