Job description

VTG is seeking a Systems Engineer to work on site in the Stafford VA office. VTG has an immediate opening for Systems Engineer to work in support of a mission critical program in Stafford, VA. This position requires a hands-on engineer to manage day-to- day system operations while leading small project initiatives. The ideal candidate combines strong infrastructure administration skills with collaborative project experience., * Administer, monitor, and troubleshoot production application environments, including Windows servers, Windows services, scheduled tasks, service accounts, permissions, application configurations, logs, Event Viewer, operating-system dependencies, and related server-side resources

  • Provide day-to-day operational support for Atlassian software to include Jira and Jira Service Management (JSM), including troubleshooting issues, resolving user problems, and maintaining system configurations
  • Manage and configure Jira projects, workflows, custom fields, permissions, and security settings
  • Provide senior-level operational and technical support for a custom Windows-based client-server application, including server-side administration, production infrastructure support, configuration alignment, site support, and production troubleshooting
  • Support future transition to cloud or hybrid-cloud environments through discovery, dependency mapping, infrastructure and network readiness, configuration documentation, operational process updates, troubleshooting, and post-migration stabilization
  • Support administration of various server-side web applications, including middleware, APIs, and authentication components
  • Manage and monitor multifactor authentication (MFA) implementation across enterprise systems
  • Developing and implementing automation scripts and rules to streamline workflows and reduce manual effort. Requires PowerShell experience
  • Develop documentation such as system diagrams and configurations, standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Conduct functional, interoperability, and security testing
  • Analyze system performance for potential problems
  • Participate in technical incident response and security assessment activities

Requirements

  • Domain Administration managing Active Directory, OU structures, Sites, Trusts, DHCP, DNS, and AD Certificate Services
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, TLS, ports, routing basics, and firewall concepts such as rules, ACLs, source/destination scoping, and least-privilege access
  • Ability to design, create, test, apply, and troubleshoot Group Policy Objects (GPO) at the domain level
  • Scripting or automation experience using PowerShell, Python, or similar tools for diagnostics, log parsing, synthetic checks, health monitoring, configuration validation, and operational reporting
  • Strong SQL skills for diagnostics and verification, including the ability to interpret schemas, write complex queries, validate data integrity, and collaborate with DBAs on performance or data issues
  • Experience using Wireshark to perform network analysis and troubleshooting
  • Demonstrated ability to lead small technical projects or initiatives
  • Knowledge of STIGs

Required:

  • Active Top-Secret clearance
  • 3+ Years of Experience
  • Familiarity with Atlassian products and administration of Jira / JSM

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud or hybrid deployments (AWS, Azure, GovCloud).
  • CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified Administrator, or similar certification., * Bachelor's (Required), * System administration: 3 years (Required)
  • PowerShell: 3 years (Required)
  • SSL: 3 years (Required)
  • Jira: 2 years (Preferred)

Security clearance:

  • Top Secret (Required)
